Mt Hood Wild Ride(s) + Campout Option

Come on out for a day of great riding in the Hood River area. Ride options of different lengths, all supported with food and water breaks! This day is sure to be fun for riders of all abilities. This is a great opportunity to be exposed to some of the best riding in the universe, that the Mt Hood area is known for.

Meeting

If you are not camping then meet 8-mile Crossing Day Use Area at 8:45 am on Saturday.

Camping

For those that wish to extend the riding experience through the entire weekend a group will be camping at thd 8-mile crossing campground (http://www.forestcamping.com/dow/pacficnw/mthcmp.htm#eight_mile_crossing ).  Look for the NWTA banner marking a main campsite.

Riding

We will have maps at the eight mile crossing day use area.   Since no one really did the suggested routes listed last year we will put the rides together in the morning.  We sill have some beginner, intermediate, and perhaps a gonzo rides.  Almost all of the ride routes possible can cross back through the eight mile crossing day use area.  This works well for bail out or refuel.  If you want to lead a ride contact shane gould at the address listed below.

Night ride option will be on eight mile creek Saturday night.  Bring your lights!

Contact Shane Gould at shanegould[at]comcast[dot]net for more information or if you would like to lead a ride this day.

Price: $0.00

this is very interesting to

Is the campground called Eightmile Creek or Eightmile Crossing?

I can only find a campground called Eightmile Crossing. Is this where we are camping? BTW it has only 19 sites and no water. Bring water.

I plan to head up Friday pm and camp both nights

I'll bring something for Saturday's potluck too.  I consider myself an intermediate rider, but if the windsurfing forcast is epic on Saturday (currently, it's not) I'll be driving down there and sailing, then coming back.

Glade and/or Alpine on Sunday?

Anyone interested in a shuttle day on Sunday? Glade and/or Alpine and then down bridle to the hwy before heading back to town?

...also, is anyone camping both Fri and Sat nights?

I'm camping friday and

I'm camping friday and saturday, but I'll be riding Timothy Lake on Sunday.

I will be there

I can only be there on Saturday.

For what it is worth, here is my ride suggestion:

Start at 8 Mile Camp Ground with a climb up 8 Mile (3 miles), down Bottle Praire, through Knebel Springs Loop (8 mile), connect with Tr. 450 over to 15 Mile (3.5 miles), 15 Mile Loop (10 miles), Tr. 450 back to 8 Mile and finish down hill to the camp ground.

Roughly 31 miles total

Weather for Sat: Very warm (high of 89 in HR)

Camping Friday

Will people be camping at 8 mile on Friday?  Do we need to bring water or firewood?

Any interest in a Bike Skills Class on Sunday?

If there is interest, I am willing to teach a basic bike skills class on Sunday Morning.

Possibility of one of those rides being a night ride? I still haven't done one. :)

Let's do it.
