Why, yes, honey, I do love this bike more than you.
Tour de Tillamook - THIS WEEKEND!
Some things to keep in mind for the weekend:
2. Camping will be at the Jones Creek Group site, event registration will be at the Smith Homestead, event activities on Saturday will be staged from the Smith Homestead. The registration table will be getting going Saturday morning around 8:30am. All event participants need to sign in and collect their water bottle/goodie bag. Ride leaders will be at the Smith Homestead, so after you are signed in go meet up with the group that you wish to ride with.
3. We are staged in the middle of the Wilson River Trail, at the Smith Homestead. This location offers ride options for all abilities heading out in both directions along the trail (east or west). The trail leaving the Smith Homestead is the most mild and flat to rolling section of the Wilson River Trail in both directions. Beginners can experience about 10 miles (or more if desired) of fairly mellow climbing, while enjoying the fun swoopy single track sections and the descents! Intermediate to advanced riders can tackle from 20 to 42 miles of single track trail, with an excess of 5000 of climbing (if the entire trail is ridden).
4. Morning rides will get going about 9am. The idea is to have multiple ability rides head out east on the trail in the morning, return the Smith Homestead for lunch (big thanks to Dave's Killer Bread, Kettle Chips, and Tim's Cascade Chips for helping provide the fixings) and a basic bike maintenance presentation (presented by Bike N Hike), then continue on in the afternoon towards the west, and finally return to the Smith Homestead for dinner! So, the group rides will be lead as out and backs.
5. Demo bikes are being supplied by Kona (through Sellwood Cycle Repair) and Giant (through Bike N Hike)! Come test ride an awesome bike on the trail! Can't get the same feel for a bike when test riding at the shop! Bike N Hike will also be providing an on-site bike mechanic for part of the day, so if you have a mechanical issue, stop by their booth.
6. We will be supplying (thanks to Hammer Nutrition) electrolyte replacement drink (HEED) for all registered participants, as well as Hammer Nutrition goodie bags. The electrolyte drink will be staged at the Smith Homestead.
7. This event is going to be lots of FUN!
8. NWTA's mobile skills park will be set up in the Smith Homestead Meadow. Dennis Veatch and Cage Aaron will be debuting their NWTA mountain bike skills sessions for children (and adults if you want to participate, encouraged if your child is participating), and a short loop trail has been set up in the Meadow that even includes some challenging logs.
9. It might be hot this weekend, but the coolest place to be is at the Tour de Tillamook! Bring sunscreen and remember to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and the electrolyte drink we're supplying to participants! But, never fear, because we are staged at one of the prime swimming locations along the Wilson River! Bring your bathing suit, towel, and even an inner tube/raft. I may try to organize a tubing activity Saturday afternoon if there is interest.
10. If you are planning to attend and you have not let me know, please try to do so ASAP so that I can plan for the proper quantities of food to provide for lunch and dinner.
11. Did I mention this event is going to be LOTS OF FUN?!?!?!
12. Sunday morning we will be packing up and heading over to the Storey Burn Trailhead. This past Sunday, I spent about 3.5 hours cleaning up the trailhead around the start of Sickter Lars and pruning the skid road leading up to the trail. With your help, we can brush out the actual single track in probably an hour or so. Please bring lopers, pruners, hedge shears, work gloves. After clearing the trail, we are going to do a ride on the Sickter Lars, Storey Burn, and the Historic Hiking Trails.
13. If you are planning to bring your child out to the event to participate in the skills session, please email me their name. We are providing custom name plates that attach to the front of the child's bike with cable ties, similar to a race number plate. The custom plate will have the child's name pre-printed on it for all children's names submitted to me by Thursday (July 30) at 4pm. We will have blank ones and a sharpie for other kid participants.
Look forward to seeing you all this weekend!

Hey...I understand you're excited about this event, but probably not that great an idea to be grabbing people's attendance info & userpics from FB & posting them here.
Can you delete that, please?
Thanks!

Thanks Joe!
Thanks for organizing the Facebook Event posting Joe! That is a big help for advertising the event. And, you're definitely right - it will be very cool and all the cool kids (and their parents too) will be there!
Ready Riders Rock is going to be supplying their fleet of 10 Novara child sized mountain bikes for the day - that is in addition to the demo bikes that Kona is providing (those are adult sized). So one more reason to attend, is if you or your child wants to try out a new mountain bike - on the trail, on the mobile skills park, all the places that you can't test them when at a bike shop.

No prob man. It's absolutely the least I can do. Will also plan to help document the festivities though day of event. Will share video and pics. (event videographer/photographer - reporting for duty sir!)
There are currently 4 people indicating they'll be at event.
Plus 1 maybe...
There's almost 300 members
There's almost 300 members of the Northwest Trail Alliance group on Facebook.
Will be having the admin of that group send the invite for Event to all of them. Then it's easy for them to share the event with THEIR friends... before ya know it, 10,000+ people know about the event and who is going and who isn't going and why it's cool to go...

I'm all for advertising the event in different ways, but I'm not on Facebook - not exactly sure what a Facebook event is. Maybe you can set one up?
Sure. will do. Lots
Sure. will do.
Lots of people are on Facebook... it makes it really easy to socialize with friends (and other people). All the cool kids are doin' it...
There a Facebook event
There a Facebook event for this I can share with friends?
I will be there!
This was a great event last year and I plan to be attend this year.
Ryan, you can count on me to be a volunteer, ride leader, and or general grunt. Just let me know what you need help with.
Last year this event highlighted all the great work this team (i.e. subgroup of PUMP) has accomplished. The building of a fun trail called WRT (Wilson River Trail), which is a trail built for mtn bikers by mtn bikers. As well highlighted the building a strong partnership if ODF through volunteer work, advocacy, and a trail patrol program.
I encourage everyone to attend.
