TECH TALK:  Tires, Tires, Tires!

Cyclepath will host this month’s Tech Talk which will be all about Tires

Yes those rubbery things we put on our wheels that help us roll down and stay the trail. Many of us know we need them, but there are so many choices in tread styles, widths, rubber compound, etc… that it can be confusing and hard to decide what to use. Well the fine technicians at Cyclepath are going to do their best to explain the differences between the options and how it can affect your riding.

• Tire width: How tires widths can affect your riding experience.
• Tread pattern: How tread patterns can help with various types of riding and weather conditions.
• Rubber compound: An overlooked area of tires that can affect your riding on various trail conditions.
• Casting styles: Trade off between different casting styles.
• Tubeless inserts: How inserts like a CushCore can affect your downhill riding.
• Tire width / rim width issues: eg: wide on narrow rim makes it round and “tendency to roll”
• Shedding mud preference vs less rotational resistance
• Cornering
• Braking and Traction

Bring your questions! These will be open discussions with plenty of time to ask questions of the experts.  While we won’t be dialing in individual bikes, please feel free to bring your favorite steed and park it inside the shop.
