Event description

Remember the first time you rode a bike on the dirt? For many of us, it was too long ago to remember. But you got hooked and you’re still enjoying the trail bounty that is part of living the Pacific Northwest. Time to pass that riding passion to the next generation and Take a Kid Mountain Biking!

This year NWTA is taking a different approach to this nationwide event, with a focus on all our great local riding venues! Over the past several years, riding options for those of us living in the Portland Metro area have expanded significantly. We’ve seen several new venues open, and existing trail networks expand — Sandy Ridge, EasyClimb at Cascade Locks, Cold Creek, Stub Stewart State Park, Castle Rock Bike Park, Powell Butte, Gateway Green/The Dirt Lab, and New Columbia Skills Park, among others.

Ten years ago, none of these riding areas even existed! Through the efforts of NWTA, our members, sponsors and partners, they’ve each come to reality, providing mountain bikers with riding options closer to where you live, work and play. And, with your continued support, they will get better over time. Not sure how to get there, or want more info on the trail networks?  Most of these trails and more can be found here: https://www.trailforks.com/

To celebrate these great trails, we’re encouraging YOU to Take a Kid Mountain Biking at one of these areas (or another if it suits you). NWTA will be at The Dirt Lab from 1-4pm. If you haven’t been to Portland’s first bike park, come check it out!

Wherever you go, we want you to document your good times.  So take a photo, post to your own social media, and mention @nwtrailalliance.  Most importantly, have fun!
