Event description

Off-Road Cycling’s Debut at the Dirt Lab

  • Saturday, June 24, noon through 4pm

Gathering at Gateway Green will introduce all of the metro region’s cycling community — citizens and business alike — to the Dirt Lab, the city’s newest bike park and a prototype of urban mountain biking’s future in Portland.

Initially offering more than three miles of cycling-only, IMBA-built single-track, a dirt jump line, a skills development area, and a pump track, the Dirt Lab becomes a perfect, transit-served destination for casual rides, training, coaching, classes, and events. Open the site plan.

In addition to open riding, we’re planning for:

• Adult and youth demo bikes available for test rides
• Dirt jumping, pump track, and skills course exhibitions
• “Guided tours” for kids who’ve never experienced on-trail mountain biking

And as the kickoff to their Summer-long Bike Camp program, Community Cycling Center will be on hand to introduce kids and their parents from surrounding schools to the park.

Gathering at Gateway Green also features Northwest Outward Bound School. Once you’re done riding, try out the Ropes course. And then kick up your feet and enjoy the food and beverages sourced from the surrounding communities.

There’s no entry fee, no RSVP. Come alone, bring your family, or all your riding friends. But you’ll definitely want to come. It’s the big day for the Dirt Lab, after all.
