NWTA’s Trail Sustainability Institute hosts Trail Building School at Rocky Point. 

*Rocky Point is property that is leased by NWTA. In order to attend this event (or to access this land) you will need to be a NWTA member, in good standing, as well as sign the online Rocky Point waiver

Come dig in your new backyard playground! Take this opportunity to contribute to the quickly growing trail system just 20 minutes West of Portland!

Dipping your toes into the world of trail building and trail maintenance? Perhaps you have been doing trail work for awhile and would like to expand your skill set and/or learn valuable tips to ensure that your efforts not only result in great trail but have little impact on the forest around you. If you can relate to any of these, we would love for you to come join us for Rocky Point’s Trail School.

This event STARTS at 10am. Please be present and ready to work at 10am! We recommend arriving 15 minutes early to ensure you have time to gather your belongings and sign-in .

What to wear:

  • long pants – no shorts
  • sturdy footwear
  • a light long-sleeve shirt
  • a hard hat or your bicycle helmet if you don’t have one
  • sturdy work gloves (an extra pair is a good idea)
  • eye protection (eye glasses, safety glasses, etc.)
  • rain gear as appropriate for the weather

What to bring: Lunch, plenty of water, snacks, loppers, a hand-saw & any other clothing/protection you’d want when doing landscaping type work (digging, raking, cutting/sawing, etc).

Tools are provided but you are welcome to bring your own if you’ve got a favorite.
