Portland Parks - Forest Park Single Track Cycling Open House

Some background on the upcoming open house. The committee met again last week and unfortunately could not come to consensus on the number of options including sharing of existing trails such as Maple and Ridge. Furthermore, our hopes of opening up fire lane seven, waterline, gas line, tolinda trails were shot down as well. This is very frustrating because in our opinion the area between FL 5 and Germantown Rd. should be one of the highest priorities for providing additional riding opportunities. I blame this in part on the views of some within the committee, and also in part due to the process which I do not feel has fostered an open and frank dialogue among the committee members.

 That said, we are working behind the scenes to try and salvage something reasonable  out of this. I believe there is more common ground than is shown in the current list of options. The committee has another meeting next week and hopefully we will make some progress prior to the open house on the 20th.

Regardless, we need every biker in this town to show up to the open house to express their support for increasing off-road cycling opportunities within Forest Park.
