Oregonian article on the FP offroad cycling committee
The Oregonian has a decent article about the FP offroad cycling committee's report (where is the report?).
Headline "Both sides are dissatisfied with a panel's report on bike access at Portland's Forest Park", here:

I expect it will pop up on the Parks website shortly. I'll keep an eye out for it.
Dog bite in Forest Park
I an avid Mtn Biker and I also hike quite a bit in Forest Park as well. Just last weekend I was riding my Mt. bike legally on one of the fire lanes and I was bit on my derrière by a so called "friendly dog who never bites" who was off leash and of course that is always the answer from the owner. I think there is a huge distortion from the friends of the park who think that Mt. Bikers are the big bad problem here who terrorize the hikers and ruin the park environment. From what I have seen it is the off leash dogs who trample the forest off the trail and scare the wild life.
Now I am in fear of every dog I see in the park that is off leash (which is about 90%) from what I have experienced. I am not saying this is factual but I can bet that a lot of the people who are anti Mt. Biking in Forest park are the same people who parade their pooches around the park off leash.
I think it is ridiculous that we have to be good responsible adults and stay off the single track trails until we work through the system while meantime the dogs are dominating the forest.
I guarantee you people afraid of Mt. bikers if I come across you on the trail you can be sure I won't bite you or run you over, so what are you so afraid of.
Very disgruntled Mt. Biker with bite marks on his #%@!!!!!!!!!!!
Report this incident to the
Report this incident to the authorities. Seriously. Call the paper, file a police report, call the parks department. This kind of behavior should not happen in our backyard! (OK that last part was a bit tongue in cheek.)
