New trail system offered in Beavercreek/Oregon City area
Hey guys,
I was out last night riding some logging roads and small off trails in a forest preserve. While getting ready, the caretaker stopped by and talked for a bit, letting me know which trails to stay off of, etc...
anyway, he offered to work with a group and develop a trail system out there. There is a meeting coming up, and he invited someone to represent mtb's there.
I can go, but am still learning about trail building. Planning an entire trail system is a little out of my league, though I will do it if I have to!
Just thought this group might be able to help. It's another close in to Portland spot, and there's a huge variety of terrain (we ended up logging over 2800 ft of ascent/descent in 2 hours last night).
So, if someone 'large and in charge' will PM me, perhaps we can work towards securing this as a future riding site.
Brett

I'm not the type to organize
I'm not the type to organize a trail build(well, I could help with planning surveys and mapping) but I would certainly offer my presence as an advocate at meetings if need be!

Did anything happen with this
Did anything happen with this trail system? I live in Oregon City and could possibly help build trail.

New trail system offered in Beavercreek/Oregon City area
what an incredible opportunity...
i would like to test the water on this opportunity as far as interest, volunteers, budget and proposed time frames... i will step up and design a mountain bike park / trail system and am willing to volunteer 20 hours a week on the project. and organize volunteer work parties
i have recently moved from the Seattle area to the Portland area (snohomish to molalla) to be more specific. I have been involved in, designed and built trail at FinnHill, Paradise and the Middle Fork Snoqualmie.
i am keen to IMBA recommended building and maintenance techniques and am interested in sustainable low elevation (winter time) riding opportunities in that area.
Has there already been an environmental impact study? is there an impact statement? Is this BLM, City, County property? who is the land manager? extra credit if you can provide contact information.
thank you, Brian
The trails that started this
The trails that started this thread are part of a reforestation research area. I for the life of me can't remember wha the name of the place is called. I checked it out once and wasn't very impressed. It's not a vary large area at all. Email the OP that started the thread, that is how I found out about it. I think a very good land owner to check out would be Port Blakeley Tree farms. They have TONS of property from molalla-estacada and they already allow public access for Hiking, horseback, and biking on their old logging roads. I'm in Oregon City, if something substantial got going I would definatly be able to volonteer some of my time.
