Scappoose 2012.10.20 update: North Side Open
Latest Update: North Side of Rocky Point Road, aka Scappoose, is now open. The area is open for hunting also, so please wear bright orange and don’t act like a deer. The South Side of Rocky Point is still CLOSED. If you would like specific e-mail updates for Scappoose please send an email to AndyC@nw-trail.org with ‘scappose mail list’ in the subject Thank you.
(Revised 2012.10.12 to reinforce that the Scappoose/Rocky Point Road property of Longview Timberland (LT) is still closed to public access, but recent rains have opened other LT property in Oregon/Washington.)
The latest from Longview Timberland:
"Rocky Point trails on both the North Side and South Side are still closed to public access, but with recent rains Longview Timberland has opened their other properties to walk-in recreational use, we will update you when changes occur 10-12-2012."
There are active timber harvest operations occurring on BOTH the north and south side of Rocky Point Rd that are expected to continue through the end of the 2012 calendar year. During this time, LT property on both sides of the road are closed to all public access, including recreational cycling. Please do not trespass on the property during this period of active timber operations.
Thanks for your cooperation, as cyclists, to help maintain our access to the LT property trails.
