Ape Canyon - Plains of Abraham Ride!

07/04/2009 - 8:00am
07/04/2009 - 4:00pm

It's July 4th, so it must mean it's Ape Canyon time!  We'll be doing an out and back on this ride (15 miles) - although if there are several people who would like to do the whole Ape Canyon/Smith Creek Loop then you would be welcome to (25 miles).  If you've never ridden this fantastic trail, now is your chance.  It is a climb up to the Plains, but it's not terribly difficult - just several miles long.  The return descent is so sweet you'll find yourself back in the parking lot with a big smile on your face.  The ride across the Plains is surreal.  I'm scheduling a few work parties in late June for this section of the trail.

Car poolers should leave from the Gateway Park and Ride/Portland at 8:00A.  Drive north on I-5 take Exit 21 at Woodland and head east on Washington 503 to Cougar.  I will meet everyone at the Rest Area in Cougar at 9:00A.  Bring plenty of water and food and dress according to the forecasted weather.

Need a ride!

Hi all,

Just registered on the site and was thinking about this Saturday's ride at Ape Canyon, but I will need to bum a ride.  I see that there might be a meeting of some at Gateway tranisit center. Is this correct and what do you think the chances of me getting a ride might be.

Thankx much,

Mark

Women riders going to Ape Canyon?

Hello,

I was hoping to get an idea of other women riders that might be going to Ape Canyon on Saturday... I'd like to bring Megan out for this ride and she enjoys riding with other women. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller???

I too am hoping to join a carpool from Gateway.  I can offer gas money, but no wheels.

Thanks, Dallas

Carpool

I'm meeting at Gateway and will have room for 1-2 people. I would say odds are good there will be enough cars for everyone who wants to catch a ride.
