Firelane 5 Work Day
On Saturday about 10 of us worked with Marenda from AmeriCorps on Firelane 5. We spent about 3 hours reworking the area just before FL 5 meets up with Wildwood. The problem was two fold, massive water erosion and high bike speeds leading up to that intersection. We added some singletrack up there, which is a lot more fun to ride than simply continuing to bomb down a gravel road prior to meeting up with WW. We then did a few alterations on the trail, and fixed the rutting that was happening in a lot of places. The trail has actually held up really well since we built it over a year ago. We also cut back some brambles and branches. It is in great shape, but could still a little bit of work in a few sections. I think we turned an already fun little descent into something even better. Check it out!

Fire Lane 5
Thanks for working on the trails... I would strongly recommend posting a sign that the trail has been changed. Huge safety issue!
That'll do pig. that'll do.
great!
can we continue all the way up the hill?
I interpreted the logs and branches in my way as a sign that I shouldn't proceed down the fall line.
Is there a plan of action for firelane 5
I love the new chicane - anything to catch me off my guard when I'm barreling down way too fast and give me a challenge... after all, if your not ready for a change in trail conditions, your shure as hell not ready for a group of runners coming up the opposite direciton...
There needs to be a lot more slow downs (obstacles, narrows, corners) along firelane 5.
Now that we have agreed to maintenance, who is heading up the planning, how do we get a hold of them, and what is the plan?
More chicanes.
More grade dips.
More corners.
