Northwest Trail Alliance, in conjunction with Portland Parks and Forest Park Conservancy and Americorps, is hosting a Volunteer Work Party at Forest Park's Firelane 5 on Saturday August 22nd from 9am-12pm.
Firelane 5 is Forest Park's signature MTB singletrack trail and the model of future singletrack trail expansion projects in the park. Northwest Trail Alliance is the official "FP trail steward" of Firelane 5 and we need youyr help to ensure that this trail remains a prime example of the high commitment NWTA makes to trail care and the sustainable trail building/maintenance practices we follow.
We will meet at the intersection of Firelane 5 and Leif Erickson. This event is open to NWTA members and non-members alike. Registration is recommended so that we can bring enough tools for everyone.
If you are a registered user of this Northwest Trail Alliance site, you can sign up below. If you are not registered you can sign up by contacting Brian Baumann at brianfsrxc1@yahoo.com
Please bring work gloves, water and proper dress for the weather.

My apologies noparking....
I should have included directions to the work party for those new to the area. Sorry that you couldn't find us. No worries though, we had a group of 15+ and we pretty much dialed in the entire trail for the upcoming rain, as well as came up with some ideas for trail improvements this winter (for example, putting up some fat berms on the final S curve that finishes the trail). Great day everyone-thanks for coming out. And a huge thank you to Jeff from FPC and the Americorps workers, they rocked!
Cheers,
Brian
I would just like to
I would just like to apologize to everyone who was there today. I parked Thurman and rode up Fl 5 until the 7 mile mark looking for the group and couldn't find you guys, asked a few bikers if they know where the trail was and no one had a clue. If you saw lost looking person on a Glory that was me. Sorry again everyone.
Info
Can anyone give me info on how to get to the location sense this is my first time there any would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Re: Directions to work party
If you come from Portland, the easiest is probably to ride in from the Forest Park entrance/gate at the end of NW Thurman St. It will take you approx. 20-30' to get to the intersection with Firelane 5 (I estimate it's about a half mile past the intersection with Saltzman Rd).
If you plan to drive in, the easiest is probably to take Skyline Rd and drive to the Saltzman Rd entrance and parking lot. From the parking lot, you can bike or hike down Firelane 5 until you hit Leif Erikson Rd. That's where we'll meet.
See you there!
