Friends of Powell Butte Meeting Update 8/20/09

The August Friends of Powell Butte meeting was last night at the caretakers house. It was a shorter meeting as Parks/Water staff were not in attendance. Here are a few things happening on the Butte to keep in mind:

-After Labor Day the gate closes at 8PM.
-Monday, August 24th there will be controlled burn on the Butte. It will still be open.
-Ground breaking for the reservoir 2 has begun.

Lastly, the self management  trail closure pilot project group would like your feedback on wet weather trail closure signs. Below are some ideas we have come up with. Our goal is to have language finalized for the signs by the September meeting. If you have any feedback please let me know.

- Trails closed to all users when muddy. (This was a fav. at the meeting)

-Ride and Hike on dry trails (to prevent trail damage).

-Ride/When Dry. Closed when wet.

The next Friends meeting is September 17th.
