Trail route scouting at Stub this weekend
The proposal submitted by NWTA has been approved. Next step is to develop trail plan. Build days will be on calendar starting October (already have 1/4 mile loop ok'd for build and need to finish out the 1 mile loop already put on the ground last build season).
For next phases/planning, need to determine single-track trail routes for XC trail. 2 miles of trail to scout. upper ridge line or lower along the stream? (probably both... but which should be priority for construction 2009/2010?)
Meet up at Stub Stewart State Park at Welcome Center on Saturday morning at 9am. Also going camping on Sunday/Monday but timeline unknown for when/where on those days - but will be continuing to scout terrain on Sunday. (Monday will be spent with family enjoying the park - riding share-use trails and hiking, er, well probably scouting too...)

More trail terrain scouting
More trail terrain scouting this weekend at Stub. Primary goal is flagging 1/4 mile extension viewpoint loop on north trail, and secondary goal is to scout along creek across the next drainage.
RSVP to the Calendar event if you plan to come and help.
The trail corridors which need to be scouted/flagged over next weeks are Orange in color on this map. The viewpoint loop we'll be flagging is that orange "thumb" off of the green loop (the trail which we put on the ground last build season).
Aim is to get trail plan finalized to be able to get some build days on the schedule for October (and weather permitting in November). The amount of trail in the plan will take 3 - 4 years to construct by hand with volunteers (roughly 6 miles of new, XC mountain bike specific, single-track).
NWTA's proposal to undertake this project was approved by Oregon Parks & Recreation last month. These are the next steps (trail planning and then building).
Meeting at Clayhill Staging
Meeting at Clayhill Staging Area at 9am (at end of main paved road in Stub Stewart State Park).
4 volunteers confirmed.
When we're all there, then we're heading out (unless I hear from anyone else interested in helping).
Will be two groups to cover more ground. We'll have radios to stay in contact and coordinated.
