Powell Butte Online Survey: Open Until 1.31.10

The current trail plan is online and you can provide input now. Many of the trails wil be realigned/rerouted. Some key trails that are brought up in the survey are Pioneer Orchard (either to decommission to increase the wildlife area or realign), Wildhorse (either decomission, realign, or realign with stairs), Elderberry (add a trail or not) and Mountain View Trail (retain current route or realign).

It is also important to talk about the importance of multi-use trails.

The survey will be open until 1.31.10.

Your comments are needed to help improve mountain bike access at Powell Butte.

Basic Objectives when completing the survey:

Question #7, choose option A which adds more trail (i.e. a second loop) on the Elderberry Trail.

Question #9, choose option B which keeps the Pioneer Trail open.

Question #13, choose option B which keeps the Wildhorse Trail open.

Questions #16 (final comment section) add two comments a.) Make a statement that all trails should be open to multi-use (i.e. open to mtn bikes) b.) Suggest that the trails should be built IMBA Trail Building standards (IMBA is the International Mountain Biking Assoc.)

***Please fill out this online survey by Sunday January 31st.***

Background info:NWTA (Northwest Trail Alliance formerly PUMP) has been an active participant throughout the planning process of a major park redesign for Powell Butte.  Members of NWTA have been working with City Parks Dept to create a plan that enhances mountain bike access and improves the trail conditions.  Currently we are in the final phase of the planning process and need your support (i.e. we need your voice as a mountain biker).  I hope that you take five minutes and complete the survey and influence the final plan for Powell Butte.

CONFUSED

AS I had stated before, for people that do not know which trails they are talking about, you can not tell by looking at the maps that the park dept supplied. So how can a fair judgement be made by others that cant remember which trail is which. Has anybody contacted the parks dept about this issue?

Powell Butte trails

Hamster,

 Here's the latest map. http://www.portlandonline.com/parks/index.cfm?c=51707&a=283372

The four trails boxed in by black dots and labeled are the four trails they're asking about: Elderberry, Mountain View, Pioneer Orchard and Wild Horse.

Also trail changes are numbered and the explanations are at the bottom.

Maps are included

There are maps and other visual aids included in survey.  I am sure that you will find them helpful.

Make sure that you complete the survey before 1/31 (Sunday)

Thanks Amy

Finally. not sure if it was something wrong with the prior link or my computer. Much beeter. MAde the right choice. COol. :D Looking forward to this moving along. Looks like they will be needing lots of volunter work up there this year. :D

Everybody Poops

Also please add that since this is a city park, that horses ESPECIALLY need to have their poop picked up.  We have to do it for dogs, and just the shear volume of horse poo is astounding.  It's a simple horse poop bag people, come on!  If it tasted better and wasn't so gritty I wouldn't mind so much, but the fact remains, there's no nutritional content anymore and when I'm smiling, get poop flung in my mouth, and can't at least benefit from the fiber, then it's a tad bit annoying.

Dennis,

My wife would completely concur!  The Horse crap is half the reason she doesn't like to ride at PB mid-week... so she says!
