Ticks at Wilson River

I rode the wilson River trail on friday (16 april 2010) and found an imbedded tick in my armpit and one crawling on my back. So don't touch any bush, or apply something to avoid getting bit.

One of the best XC trails I have ever ridden. Bring your climbing gear!

A heads up!

Joe is a bit mistaken... our new day-use fees for 2010 are $5!!! Have fun and be safe on our trails out here at Stub Stewart SP. Stop by the Discovery Depot store at the Welcome Center for some fun info. Oh, and by the way, this is Ranger Steve Kruger, the trails coordinator at the park.

 I'll be leading

I'll be leading beginner group (family friendly) from Hilltop day use area at L.L. Stub Stewart State Park starting at 10am on 4/25 as part of this series of Rides of Spring event.   It's $3 for day use parking pass.

The Sunday Ride

Where exactly is this and what tpye of ride?

here is detail as shared on

here is detail as shared on the Facebook event I've just sent out...  Ride is under 4 miles round trip.

One of the "Portland Trail Fest: Rides of Spring" will begin from the Hilltop Day Use area ($5 parking fee) at L.L. Stub Stewart State Park and will cater to the beginner mountain bike rider. Majority of ride will be on natural surface paths and singletrack trails (we will be riding the soon to be opened singletrack loop which NWTA and local mountain bike volunteers have been digging for past couple years). There will be some short steep sections and some gradual climbs. This is a beginner MOUNTAIN biking group ride. Nobody left behind. Pace will be slow and FUN is the key focus. Families with younger riders welcome (I'll be bringing my 4 yr old on a tow behind).

Please consider carpooling. Visit nw-trail.org and post to event comments or forum to arrange for carpool group.

Remember to bring your own helmet (and bike!), water, snack and a lunch (we will be back at Hilltop day use area in time for lunch). Always come prepared with everything you'd need if going to ride alone (your own pump, tools, tube repair kit) but most likely someone will have what you need. If you don't bring your own fun, then fun will be provided. ;)

carpool for the Stub group ride

I've got room for 3 additional riders plus bikes.  Can meet up at McDonald's parking lot at North Plains exit on hwy 26.

Give me a shout by Saturday night if you'd like to carpool.  joer [at] nw-trail.org
