Forest Park - Trail Decommissioning & Area Restoration Work Party

Date:
Sat, 05/01/2010 - 9:00am - 12:00pm

Join us for a work party, jointly organized by Portland Parks & Recreation and Northwest Trail Alliance, aimed at further decommissioning the rogue trail that was discovered earlier this year (in the North Management Unit of the Park), and to help with some initial restoration work in the area.

We are looking for a group of 15 to 25 volunteers to help out with this effort.

Portland Parks & Recreation will flag the site so that we have work stations along the trail where small groups can be working to cover the trail with brush, deconstruct jumps, remove cribbing, etc.

We will spend some time at the beginning of the work party orienting everyone to the tasks at hand, reviewing techniques and splitting into smaller groups.  If we do end up with a larger group, we may siphon off some volunteers to work on invasive removal along BPA Road.

We will meet at 9:00 am at the Skyline entrance of BPA Road.  We strongly encourage you to bike over there.

Things to bring: bike lock, water, work gloves, sturdy clothing.

Pre-registration is required. Please sign up for this work party below.

For more information please contact Mark Pickett (mark@nw-trail.org), NWTA Trail Steward for Forest Park.
