** please be kind and RSVP if you plan to attend! **
Bring snack, water, and work gloves. Bike is optional but highly recommended to ride 1 mile out to project location - and park doesn't like more than couple vehicles driving down trail so may not have room for all in a vehicle (this one will be down Banks-Vernonia trail from Welcome Center then hiking for .5 miles to project area). We can transport your hiking shoes along with tools to spot where you'll be able to change into boots and stash bikes off in the woods near where project will be - your call on if you are comfortable doing that - but so far we haven't lost a bike to the wild animals... ).
This is a Volunteer trail build event hosted by Northwest Trail Alliance at L.L. Stub Stewart State Park.
A list of all Spring 2010 NWTA scheduled build days at Stub is posted to the Project Updates message forum.
BONUS! Besides the member points you'll earn towards NWTA end of year
raffle (and all the good trail karma too!), we'll also be doing a door prize drawing at the build day
just for those attending this volunteer event - giving away some of the last tickets available for the "Follow Me" movie premiere in Portland! There will also be a
social gathering of trail volunteers back at a campsite in the park
(and you are more than welcome to bring a bike to go ride if you've got
the energy after building).
Volunteer trail work in singletrack area for XC trail is under guidance
of John Joy and Joe Rykowski as co-trail stewards in collaboration with
Ranger Steve Kruger as the Oregon Parks & Recreation Department
trail manager at L.L. Stub Stewart State Park.
We'll be focusing on the south trail loop (and digging north to eventually link in with north upper loop). The mountain biking zone trail construction depends on volunteer efforts for bulk of labor. In other words, it's on us, the volunteer trail
builders to step up and dig in... building trail that was designed for
mountain biking by mountain bikers is the best feeling in the world!
Come on out and join us if you have been putting it off.

Sign-in Location: Welcome Center parking area (NOT the usual Clayhill horse staging parking area)
Please arrive on time. Project orientation, Q&A, and safety
talk will begin at 9:15 and we'll be heading to project area (about 1.5
miles from Welcome Center down Banks-Vernonia trail) by 9:30am.
If you arrive late but do know how to get out to the project build
site, then you must check-in out on the trail with John Joy or Joe
Rykowski before beginning work - we must have volunteers sign waivers,
thanks!

Work Party
Seemed to have gone pretty well. Cut some nice lines, even if they're XC. Looks like this trail is gonna be pretty neat. More work to come!
Volunteer group leader
Volunteer group leader will be Shawn Holt.
day use fee, stub stewart
Just wondering if the trail builders have to pay the day use fee?
