NWTA 2010 RTP Grant application presentation
Next step in the Recreation Trails Program grant application process is coming up middle of the month. Since NWTA has applied for more than $50K, it is a requirement to do a presentation to the grant review committee.
Here's my slide deck that I'll be using: http://ow.ly/1nbSc
Will have 10 minutes to talk and 10 minutes to answer questions.
The RTP grant is managed by Oregon Parks & Recreation Department. There's typically about $1M available each year. Funds come from federal gas tax. So, yes, when you buy gas and there's that portion that is collected as tax... it comes back to the states to dole out to non-motorized and offroad projects. Sweet, eh?
Anyways, hopefully the grant is awarded for this program, so we'll have an asset to help build trails beyond all of the sweat the volunteers put in to help with construction.

Game changer
This'll sure be a game changer if this grant awarded.
land manager: "So will your team of volunteers need shovels?"
NWTA project leader: "Naw, we got it covered."
Posted finalized
Posted finalized powerpoint presentation used -- http://ow.ly/1nbSc
It covers details about the ST240 machine, the partnership program, and some of the projects already identified where partners willing to put the machine to use once it is delivered.
The presentation to RTP grant review committee down in Springfield today went well. Hopefully our application scores high enough to be awarded the grant. NWTA will hear official word early May.
Was also present for ODF's presentation requesting funding to also purchase an ST240 machine.
Hope we'll both be awarded grants requested because there's more than enough trail work to keep both machines very busy for the next decade.
But for now, we anxiously wait until May to hear if we'll have funding.
