5th annual 2010 Oregon Bike Summit
2010 Oregon Bike Summit
It’s
time to put the fifth annual Oregon Bike Summit on your calendar. This
year we’re moving the event to June, and the agenda will be covered in
one day. The programs will be balanced between spotlighting statewide
bicycle projects and continuing our work on cycling-related legislative
issues. Learn all you need to know on topics including national and
state legislative issues, active transportation and health care,
growing cycling tourism in Oregon and what lies ahead for biking in our
state. And choose from afternoon breakout sessions on involving bike
businesses in advocacy, bringing bike activism to underserved
communities, how to use social media in advocacy efforts, and making
the connection between transportation and recreation.

There is a breakout
There is a breakout session for "Growing Mountain Bike Participation".
Um, I'd think providing more mountain biking specific singletrack facilities would be #1 way to increase participation, but that could just be crazy thinking. *shrug*
Anyone planning to go
Anyone planning to go to this? Carpool?
I'll be going.
If you are a mountain biker who is looking to do far more than volunteer once in awhile to help with trail building then it's important to come to these sort of events. Even though it's not mtb centric event there's good resources here to network with, and the organizers are open to involving mountain biking community more. This is one of those "Speak!" things. Communication. Getting message out there to all who will listen.
I've been to the past 3 of these and took something very worthwhile away each time. Made some new friends even. Learned who it is that's making decisions and getting trail on the ground. Who is mountain biking friendly? Who is not? (and really, who IS not? I've never meet anyone that isn't cool with the sport..)
