Meeting with Nick Fish is NOT open to the Public

From Erik Tonkin:

"It has come to our attention that Friday's meeting with Commissioner Nick Fish is NOT open to the public.  His office wants just one representative-advocate for off-road bicycling in Portland city parks to attend, and it appears they want that person to be Frank Selker.  (Admittedly, there's a chance this person could be me....)

There looks to be room for more meetings on this issue in the future and, therefore, broader representation at the proverbial table.  I, for one, think it's key to play by their rules here, to make a good first impression, to tightly control our message, and so on.  Frank can do this.

Thanks, also, for the great meeting the other night.  There's a lot of positive energy right now.  I'm glad to be a part of it, and thank you all for welcoming me to PUMP and its future.  --Erik Tonkin"

More info: On Nick Fish Meeting

To the PUMP Board of Directors and general membership:  I believe I left out one important bit of information in my last missive.

A number of us may have contacted or have been contacted by somebody from Nick Fish's office, but Frank was actually contacted by a senior policy analyst to Mr. Fish and his lead assistant for Portland Parks and Recreation.  (This is a different and, in this case, more important person than who sent out the original email message about the meeting.)  This is a compliment, and we should feel collectively proud that his office has reached out to one of us.  We should also respect the choice and reason behind it.  I send this note to assuage any possible hurt feelings concerning why or why not another person was or was not chosen.

Please also post this to the forum or as appropriate.  Thanks a lot!  --Erik
