Thank you for the participation at the ODF Non-motorized Volunteer Trail Work Party this past Saturday

Thank you to those that came out for the 1st Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) non-motorized trail work party of the season this past Saturday (http://www.nw-trail.org/node/2060).  This work party was led by the Northwest Trail Alliance due to budget and staff reductions for ODF's recreation staff for the Tillamook State Forest.  Thank you to Matt Savage, Reese Bowes, Brian List, Fred MacGregor, Ray Bayley, and Wayne Naillon for coming out to volunteer your time to perform maintenance work on the Wilson River Trail for the benefit of all users of this trail.  We provided a total of 27 hours of volunteer work for the day, not including driving time.

Vandalism on Wilson River Trail extension

The saga of the Wilson River Trail extension (Segment C-1) from Elk Creek
Campground east to Idiot Creek Road continues.  There was vandalism along the
flag line this winter, resulting in the theft of flagging and pin flags
delineating the new trail segment.  This set back is costly to correct for the
Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF), as they are currently experiencing severe

Great day of riding on the Wilson River Trail!

Yesterday, I played host to a small (3 total, counting myself) group riding on the Wilson River Trail.  We rode an out-and-back starting at Elk Creek Campground to the last bit of rocky exposure before descending to Diamond Mill OHV Trailhead.  The trail was in very good condition, although I did note a few new trees down across the trail.  These have fallen as a result of the most recent wind storms that Ron mentioned on the PUMP email list.

Here are a few photos from the ride!

PUMP Supports Grant Funding Requests to Lengthen Wilson River Trail

To continue providing and promoting mountain bike opportunities near the Portland metropolitan area, PUMP submitted a letter of support with a grant funding application from the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) to the Bikes Belong Grants Committee (http://www.bikesbelong.org/) for the first of three segmented extensions to the Wilson River Trail.  That letter is attached to this post for reader's information.
