Molalla River Trail System closure

Timber harvest in the Molalla River Trail system is prompting a temporary closure to all recreational access.

Per Zach Jarrett, Lead Outdoor Recreation Planner for the BLM, "While the single track trails have been closed since late fall, there is now a temporary closure on the forest road sections of the system that are typically open year round.

Timber harvest activity associated with the Annie’s Cabin timber sale began last week and is scheduled to take place until the Spring of 2011, upon which time portions of the trail system will open back up for seasonal use."

Meet at Molalla Safeway Fuel Station at the junction of Hwys 213 & 211 at 9:00 am and caravan up the river.  Project involves re-routing an unsustainable segment of Deer Skull Trail.  Work followed by nachos at El Charrito Mexican Restaurant in Molalla.  Bring gloves, all tools provided.  Contact Bill Taylor, 503-829-6793 or btaylor@molalla.net.  Please RSVP.

women only ride

Women only tour of the Molalla trails.  Meet at the south gateway parking lot at 8:30 a.m.  Plan to bring rain jackets and layered clothing.  Please bring plenty of food and water.  This ride will encompass all of the trails though with bail out points for those wanting a shorter ride.  No long ascents or descents but much undulating terrain and real single track.

17th Annual Horses, Hikers and Mountain Bikers Poker Ride

Help support the Molalla Trail System with a fun ride and an opportunity to win great swag.  Poker hands are $5 per hand or five hands for $20.  Proceeds go toward trail improvements.  BBQ lunch and t-shirts available for purchase.

Be aware that the North Fork Molalla Bridge is closed for replacement.  Follow the detour signs as you leave Molalla and proceed up the Weyerhaeuser road on the opposite side of the river.

Earth Day, April 16th, trail cleanup and maintenance project followed by free BBQ provided by Molalla River Watch. The trail realignment project has been put on hold by the BLM.   Meet at Feyrer Park on the Molalla River just southeast of Molalla at 9 am.  Tools provided.  Please RSVP to Bill Taylor, 503-829-6793.

Horses, Hikers & Mountain Bikers Poker Ride

Please join us on Sunday, August 29th, for a benefit ride for the Molalla trails.  Registration is at Hardy Creek Trailhead from 9 am - 11 am.  BBQ lunch available for purchase following the ride.  Live music during lunch folowed by a drawing for great prizes. Molalla Ride

On Saturday July 24, 2010 I will lead a Molalla ride.  The plan is to ride all of the trails starting from the Hardy Creek Trailhead.  Please plan to ride at least 5-hours so bring sufficient food and hydration.  Meeting at the south end of the Gateway park and ride, NE 97th avenue and NE Pacific at 8am.  Please NO DOGS, this is a human only event.
