Do you like to study maps and spend time planning your next adventure?

Do you find it fun to record your rides and share trail info with others?

Do you like toys like GPS?

Do you keep a journal of all the great trails you have ridden?

If you said yes to any of these, you are a candidate for this special project.

We are looking for volunteers to be part of a Trail Map Team.

Goal:  to add information to our NWTA  Trails resource section on our website.

Hospital Hill - cattle & dogs

A friendly reminder.

Kreps Ranch will be turning cows out on their property, known as Hospital Hill. The first

trucks will be there March 26, 2010. As posted

by gates there are NO Dogs allowed in the pasture from now until July--No Dogs even on leashes.

Please keep all gates closed. They are again posting NO Parking at the corral area on Spring Street/Barnedt Road. That is a county road, but the parking around that area is mostly on private property. The reason for posting the No Parking signs, Ranch trucks and trailers take a lot of

room to park and to turn around. The Ranch

owners will be down there off and on throughout the cows stay on Hospital Hill.

The cows are usually a bit scared when they first get to their new pasture. If you are up there, stop, let the cows wander off, this is their place. As most of us know, by the time Ranch gathers them they hardly notice a mountain bike or hiker. Be respectful, this is private property.

Portland Bicycle Master Plan - PDX BMP

Several NWTA members participated in the first ever of-road cycling subcommittee for the PDX Master Plan revisions.  This is new territory for the Advisory Committee - traditionally much of the funding comes from transportation sources and so natural surface trails aren't emphasized or even considered. There is now a section in the BMP dedicated to off-road cycling.  Please refer to Section 3.6 of the BMP.  Please pay particular attention to the recommendations.  Personally, I wish they were stronger.  How about a 50 by 15 campaign - 50 miles of singletrack in the city by 2015?

Wright Meadow and Craggy Peak Trails exploration

Date:
Fri, 09/11/2009 - 7:30am - 6:25pm

Join Aaron and David as we explore Wright Meadow, Nr 80,  and Craggy Peak, Nr 3,  Trails.  We don't really know what to expect, so that's why we're calling it an exploration!  There'll be lot's of climbing - at least 3900 feet worth over 14 miles of trail.  But what we gain, we'll also lose on the way back down!  It should be sweet!

It may be Friday, but it's a day to get out and explore!

Results of 2/28 work party at L.L. Stub Stewart State Park

Made some solid progress towards goal to have 1.5 miles of trail open by June 2009.  The volunteer team busted open about 1/4 mile of additional trail!  Thanks to all for your effort - every bit counts.

Below is updated progress overview map which shows the new trail under construction.

Wanted: A Few Good Trail Stewards

Trails Skills College to be Held on National Trails Day Weekend

OREGON – Trail enthusiasts who have always wondered about how hiking trails are built or how
to stabilize a crumbling slope are invited to the Trail Skills College June 5-7, 2009 in Cascade
Locks at the Cascade Locks Marine Park. For those concerned with the declining state of hiking
trails, it will be a chance to get outside and have fun helping to save our trails.

Greetings everyone

Just wanted to drop in and introduce myself, Brian Baumann ("free-agent" on mtbr).  Some of you I have ridden with many times (Eric Aldinger!) and some of you I know from the OR race scene.  I have been riding/racing in OR for 10 years, have done trail work at FP and PB with PUMP, and have finally decided to become an official member.  I am really stoked about the new direction PUMP is heading, with a focus on advocacy.
