Wilson River Trail - Where to start?? (forum)

I'm hoping to get out and ride some of the Wilson River trail for the first time. Any suggestions for the most interesting portion to hit up? I'm assuming it's typically done as an out and back. Will probably only have time for 10-15 miles, so something will have to be missed :-( My idea of interesting would be either good scenery, or gnar (technical fun factor).

Thanks folks!

Brown's Camp trails closed? (forum)

A friend told me that the Brown's camp area was now closed to MTBs. Is this true? What about the motorcyclists? I always saw more of them there than MTB riders.

I've "googled" around but have been unable to find any definitive information on a possible closure.

 Thanks for any news.

Tilly Historic figure 8 Loop with Gales, Storey, and Sikter Lars for fun (17mi, 3750ft) (event)

09/20/2009 - 9:00am
09/20/2009 - 3:00pm

If you intend to go, please sign up.

Going out to Tilly to do the Gales, Storey, Historic loop.

Meet at Gateway Transit Center at 9am.

We will then swing through sunset transit center 10470 SW Barnes Rd on the way out of town by about 9:30 or so

I listed it Intermediate, no one left behind, but be aware there is some fair amount of climbing, quite a bit of technical, and some length.

Should be a fun day with some options for bailing if needed.

Tillamook State Forest Trail Work Party, Volunteer Recognition BBQ, and Mountain Bike Ride (event)

09/12/2009 - 9:30am
09/12/2009 - 4:30pm

I am leading the non-motorized trail work party for the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) in the Tillamook State Forest tomorrow. Following the work party there is a volunteer recognition BBQ potluck hosted by ODF at the Smith Homestead facility. And, following that, I am probably going to lead a downhill moutain bike shuttle ride on the newly sanctioned downhill mountain bike trail out of Reheers Campground.

snapshots of birth of a new trail... (forum)

Today Westside Trail Federation had walk-thru with Oregon Department of Forestry recreation trail manager for Tillamook State Forest (Forest Grove district).  Milestone in the planning process.   Still a few review cycles to make it thru but still on target for Spring 2010 build days.

First, some perspective (shared by Ryan McLane, the W.T.F. project lead for the Tillamook State Forest proposed DH trail network)...
