Siouxon Creek

Lewis River Trail

The Lewis River trail, along with Siouxon, are about the only two trails that are really open right now on the Mount St Helens National Volcanic Monument district, Gifford Pinchot NF.   The Forest Service will have a work crew on the Lewis River Trail this week and will be working on that trail.  Give it a week and it should be in great condition.

I've also heard that Jerry D. will be heading over to the Siouxon Trail again (his 3rd trip this year) and will be working on that trail.  Sharp eyes will notice 2011 on at least one log that was a tree blocking the trail.  Thanks for your hard work Jerry!

Directions for riding Siouxon Creek?

Does anybody have good directions for riding Siouxon Creek?  I've kayaked it and saw some of the trail but want to ride it tomorrow and don't want to miss any of the normal mtn biking trail.  It seems that for such a "used" trail it's hard to find info on the internet.  Is there a database on this site where a person could find info such as this?  Thanks a lot! please email info to jarredjackmanatgmaildotcom  thanks!

Siouxon Creek access washed out

Gifford Pinchot National Forest reports that Forest Service Road 54 has a big washout about 5 miles east of Chelatchie Prairie.  That possibly means, once the snow melts, we will probably have a long warm-up road ride to get to the upper trail head for Siouxon Creek.  For updates on road conditions, and a photo of the washout, go to: http://www.fs.fed.us/gpnf/news/2009-storm/

Further details, when known, will be posted here.
