MTB skills clinic & fundraising idea for NWTA

Hi folks,

I've gotten feedback from two different female pro MTBers (one current, one retired) about what a great initiative this Women's Forum is, and to let them know if there's anything they can do to help.  I thought perhaps we could enlist either or both to do a one-day skills-building clinic at a location relatively nearby sometime during the summer and do this as a fundraiser for the NWTA? It would be a great opportunity for women to come learn from other women, build confidence, skills, and community.  I'd be more than willing to help organize this, if there's interest.

Hello There,

Please pass the word on to your fellow members that we are offering significant discounts from the late registration fee of $150 down to $99 for anyone involved in trail building organizations.  Sisters is doing a fundraiser to help further develop their systems and this is the first of an annual Mountain Bike Festival complete with supported trail riding, movie tickets, catered meals, entertainment, etc....  Should be great weather and location for some good riding!  Plus,

we raise funds for further trail development. 

If you can do anything to help spread the word and make this successful, we would very much appreciate it.

Bike Parade Registration: 10:00 AM

Bike Parade: 11:00 AM

Performances begin: 12:00 NOON

Funeral procession for the car belonging to the Car-for-Bike Trade volunteer: 1:30 PM

Car-for-Bike Trade Celebration: 3:30 PM

Curtain Closes: 5:00 PM

Bring your bike and helmet for the parade! Bring your ID if you want to enjoy New Belgium's fine products, and bring cash - there are no ATMs on the property.

Portland Bike Swap Volunteers Needed

Volunteers needed for the Portland Bike Swap, to be held from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Sun. Feb. 28. A variety of duties and shifts are available from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Shifts could include admission, raffle, setup, breakdown, and more. If interested, email amy@nw-trail.org or sign up below. We are also accepting donations to sell at our table. Thanks!! All proceeds benefit the Northwest Trail Alliance.

DH shuttle day fundraiser events at Black Rock Mountain Bike Area ...

BRMBA has contacted W.T.F. about hosting a
shuttle day event down at Black Rock this year. We wouldn't have
considered it again - there's much wear/tear on the trails, and it's
BRMBA that does the maintenance... but since they asked us...

Arg - Reach the Beach Mt. Bike Route Cancelled!

I've have ridden The Reach the Beach fundraiser Mt. Bike route from Grand Ronde to Seaside over the past seven years. I was surprised and dismayed to find out that the Mt Biking portion of this event has been removed from their itinerary. I looked forward to that ride every year. I understand their reasoning, but this route has never been fully supported and advertised from the very beginning, so it was left to die on the vine.
