The Mount Hood National Forest is now accepting comments on the Timberline Ski Area Mountain Bike Trails and Skills Park Proposal. This 30 day comment period will be the public's only chance to submit comments. They are working on the final decision and your comments are very important. The proposal will include 17 miles of downhill trails and a skills park at Timberline.

Hood River Area

I have a friend coming up from Ashland on Monday.  He is a serious DH rider.  He plans on heading up to Hood River on Tuesday.  I am hoping someone out there might have some suggestions for a couple days of riding either on the Washington or Oregon sides.  Post Canyon and Syncline are both areas that I have not been to yet.  I am thinking that we will try to shuttle.  Any advice or info would be great.  I am not sure of our plans yet but anyone is welcome to meet us and ride with us.

More Coastal Range Trails

(new to group)

I live in Portland, but spend a lot of time out in Pacific City. I've searched all over, and can't really find any trails in the vicinity that allow mt. bikes. I've found some great areas to build some new trails (both XC and downhill), but am still trying to learn the process for doing so.

I've contacted the Suislaw Forest people, and they were very helpful in steering me towards getting permits, and information, but don't sound real excited about having a new trail system. They are worried about costs of maintenance.
