Benefit kids DH race???

Sorry about the double post but I wasn't sure were this should go.

Kid's fun race/benefit???

So, I have a 4y/o who is pretty good on his bike.  I've also seen a bunch of other kids who tear it up too.  I thought it could be fun to have a kids DH race at Sandy Ridge to benefit the trail system/ NWTA.  I thought it could run from the top of Laura's Loop to the parking lot and be seperated by age.  We could even have a scoot bike catagory (thats chainless for adults).  Parents could ride along with thier kids to ensure safety.

Stub could have a similar race.  I just watched my son ride from Unfit Settlment View down Hares Canyon Trail to the Clay Hill Horse Staging area.

In the NWTA Calendar posting for the work party, Alex was looking for a ride out to Sandy (SRTS).

Anyone heading out there that might have room for a volunteer?

Sandy Ridge: Quid Pro Flow - trail report

Amazing trail building continues at Sandy Ridge ...

I had an opportunity to ride the new Quid Pro Flow trail at Sandy Ridge on Sunday.  It honestly blew me away how much work had gone into this short 1.75 mile trail at the bottom of Rock Drop, it loops out along the ridge and comes back to hook up with 338.  The BLM map has already been updated and trails are well marked so you shouldn't have trouble finding it.

Report from the Trek Women's Dirt Series Clinic at Sandy Ridge

Just got this report from one of our members, Laurie Wulf, who attended the Trek Women's Dirt Series Clinic at Sandy Ridge this past weekend. Sounds like the event was a tremendous success.  Any women out there have pictures you could send along?

Demo Day with Giant for Women

I wanted personally extend an invitation to the ladies of NWTA (and any male counterparts!) to Giant for Women's Demo Day.

This upcoming Saturday, Giant for Women will be coming to Portland with Gordo, the Sprinter van home to Giant's demo fleet of latest women's specific bikes. We will have size runs of Giant's road and full suspension mountain bikes, including the TCR W, Avail Adv 1, TCX W, Dash 1, Cypher 1, and Anthem X1 W, available to rides. <?xml:namespace prefix = o />

Sandy Ridge trail - ride report

Thanks Ted and Brent for organizing Saturday's ride at Sandy ridge.  Steve, Lee, Bill, Shane and myself joined them for a spectacular day of riding.  We did the homestead road climb, 338 and Hide and Seek twice (and the jump line at the top three times).  Considering all the rain last week the trail was in great shape and considering all the cars in the parking lot the trails didn't feel very crowded.  Thanks again to those who helped organize things on Saturday and to those who I met for the first time, I hope I didn't get your name wrong  :-)

Below are a few of details from the day...

  • Distance: 18.4 miles
  • Riding time: 2:40
  • Total elevation gain: 3,950 ft.
