Beginner Rides are easier,  typically 5 - 12 miles with limited sustained climbing and generally smoother non-technical terrain.  The pace is leisurly with multiple breaks and as always no rider left behind.

Stub mountain bike night ride (easy/beginner)

Login/signup if attending this event (so we know can leave trailhead when the whole group signed up arrives).

Will start from Buxton trailhead on Banks-Vernonia Trail.   Easy pace (if you even want to call it a "pace" because there isn't going to be a pace... we'll be taking our sweet time).   Will ride rail-to-trail paved path into Stub Stewart State Park, then up Hares Canyon trail (the south portion is dirt path track).  steep short climb then gradual climb heading north further into Stub.   Most likely will throw in loop at the end to flow down Jackstraw Tarry trail to reconnect with Hares Canyon then back out to Buxton trailhead.

Buxton into Stub night ride

Got a bike light and warm riding gear?  Then you are set for doing some night riding!   Easy beginner ride.  Slow to moderate pace - gradual climb then more steep moderate climb but then it's all down on pedal back.   Much more fun than spinning indoors!

** sign up if coming and remove if deciding not to come - will wait at parking lot for a bit if people signed up but not forever. **

Park at Buxton trailhead (it's on the Banks-Vernonia trail).

BEER @ Cascade Locks Trail Build Days -October 15-16

Our great sponsor, Hopworks, donated a keg to motivate AND the weather looks great for this work party.  Dirt is soft and easy digging.  No excuses fence sitters, come on up with the kids and play. (see updated directions)


Help NWTA build the first in a series of family oriented trails at Cascade Locks in the heart of the Scenic Columbia Gorge. We will have the new ST-240 trail building machine, but need you to fine tune the tread to your liking.   Come both days or one.  Kids are welcome and encouraged to attend (see Cautions below). 


The trail route is flagged and will be generally cleared by the ST-240.  We need fine tuning and buffing of the tread.
