Anonymous Crime Stoppers Tip Leads to Recovery of Stolen Trailer, $80,000 Trail Construction Machine; Investigation Continuing

"Oregon State Police (OSP), with the help of an anonymous tip reported to the Crime Stoppers program, recovered a trail construction machine and trailer stolen in late November from L.L. "Stub" Stewart State Park in northwest Washington County. The investigation is continuing and a suspect has been identified but not charged.

According to OSP Detective Chris Schinnerer, on Decembeer 30, 2011 OSP troopers went to a Forest Grove-area property following up on an anonymous tip that equipment similar to the stolen "Northwest Trail Alliance" trail construction machine and trailer was at the property. Detectives and troopers contacted the property owner and received his consent to search the area, subsequently finding the trail construcion machine concealed in a heavily forested area. The stolen trailer was also found and recovered.

ST240 operator training and TDPP status

The second group of Operator trainee's completed initial training this past weekend.   Both of the NWTA resources who went thru July training have been greenlighted by instructor for further training.   In total, there were 10 resources who went thru both 2-day training sessions.  These were opportunities both for partner agency/organization resources as well as our own NWTA resources to get trained up on use of ST240 for construction of single track trails.

Continuing saga of the Trail Ninja

Nobody ever sees a trailbuilder, at least not if they’re doing it right. Consider your favorite spot, be it DH, Freeride, XC, dirt jump, or skills-park. From the trailhead parking-lot to the trash-can you toss your post-ride beverage-container into, a dedicated trailbuilder—or more likely, numerous trailbuilders—had a hand in almost every aspect of your ride. Those perfect berms that flow from section to section? That surprising new rock-drop with the buttery landing? That flawless set of doubles with the rocket-launcher-lip? All thanks to trailbuilders.

And let’s not forget every log you didn’t find across the trail, those ruts that didn’t suck down your front wheel, that huge washout you didn’t have to portage around, the low-hanging limb that didn’t knock you ass-over-tea kettle, the visits to the emergency room you didn’t have to make…
