*New* Sandy Ridge Trail Work Dates (forum)
Submitted by Tom Slovak on Tue, 03/09/2010 - 6:37am.Good weather and multiple requests for more trail work days at the Sandy Ridge Trails has prompted additional trail work days for Sandy Ridge, in addition to our scheuduled Trail Work Party & Discovery Ride as part of our Portland Trail Fest. Please join us at these events, which are co-hosted with our trail partners the Salem District Bureau of Land Management and the International Mountain Biking Association.
First, we've added an official Trail Work Party for Saturday, March 20th, the first of the season for the Sandy Ridge Trail System. March your calendars, come throw some dirt and then ride your bike on this great trail system.

We've added another Trail Work Party for the Sandy Ridge Trail System!
In addition to our Trail Work Party/Discovery Ride as part of the Portland Trail Fest on Apriil 24th, we've added a Trail Work Party on Saturday, March 20th. Please join us, along with our trail partners, the Salem District Bureau of Land Management and the International Mountain Biking Association, for 3 hours to help cut new trail and perform maintenance work on one of the newest trail systems in our area-- then ride the completed section of trail afterwards.
We welcome you to attend even if you haven't ever worked at a Trail Work Party-- make this your first one if you've never been to one!
Kicked off digging at Stub (forum)
Submitted by Joe Rykowski on Mon, 03/08/2010 - 8:45pm.Thanks to the 7 volunteers who came out on March 7th to kick off the series of work parties leading up to finishing out the upper loop in the mountain biking area at Stub. We're on track to getting our tasks knocked out so the park folks will be able to open the zone up to the public this year. During this day we focused on dialing in some of the outslope edge of trail and dispersing the duff.
Had some energy snacks and drinks donated by Cayuse Cycles owner Phil Champoux of West Linn to fuel the builders. After the trail work was done and the tools turned back in, some of us regrouped at a campsite and we got treated to a fresh batch of grapefruit IPA that Alex had brewed up. And yes, he's invited to every trail work party forever cuz that was good stuff! There's definitely a distinct advantage to hosting volunteer trail work events in the Northwest with its many many microbreweries and brewmasters. *thumbs up*
Urban Assault Ride wheels in to Portland (event)
Submitted by DAnderson on Sun, 03/07/2010 - 8:49pm.New Belgium Brewing's Urban Assault Ride is wheeling in to Portland again on May 23, 2010. As in years past this will prove to be about as much fun as can be had on two wheels! To paraphrase their website, UAR loves coming to PDX because we just ooze two-wheeled culture...not to mention beer, music, and funky shops. So if you like two wheels, beer, a funky good time get ready!
Northwest Trail Alliance is a beneficiary of the Urban Assault Ride this year, but we need to provide some volunteers to staff the course! And that's where you come in! We need 30 warm bodies to staff the course, volunteers will receive free swag, beer, and food for your labor! Volunteers will also need to attend a meeting the Thursday before the event. Twelve people signed up during our February meeting, but we need 18 more! How about you?!
