HowTo:Add Event to Calendar
This provides a simple guide for adding a grassroots event to the calendar.
Going on a ride and want to invite some folks to come along? Doing a major organized event such as a bike show or fundraiser for mountain biking community? Add an event to the calendar...
What You Need
A registered account on nw-trail.org, and you must be logged in!
Create new Event
If not already logged in, then click the "Login" link on upper corner of page at nw-trail.org site.
2. Click Create Content
Click Create Content menu item under your account sidebar menu. This will open a create content sub-menu with additional choices.
3. Click "Event"
Under the content sub-menu, click the "Event" link to begin creating a calendar event.
4. Fill out event form
Follow the prompts on the form to specify start/end date and time, title of event, and description.
If it's a normal scheduled event, then click "Repeat" link to open sub-form to fill in details about how often the event repeats (and optionally when the last event occurs).
5. Optional config
Set the "Vocabulary" for the event. What the? Yeah.. this just means "what type of event" and "what specific riding area is it for (if ride or work party)". Choose from the drop-down menu.
Want people to be able to "sign-up" so you can see who is coming? Click the "Signup Settings" and then check "Enable".
Nice work! That's all there is to it. Be sure to share the link to your calendar event on other social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, etc.
Anyone who signs up to attend your event (if you've enabled that option) will be notified via email 1 day prior to the event. So you don't have to remind them... BUT it's a good idea to communicate any last minute updates by sending broadcast email to those who have signed up (see the bonus tip below to get super saavy as an event organizer - amaze all your friends with a couple clicks!)
Did you know you can email all people who have signed up to attend your event? You can email all of the people who sign-up to attend the event (if you are the person who created the event). Simply go to your event on the calendar (when you are logged in,1 choose from calendar and click "more" or if event coming up soon then choose from the sidebar), and you'll see a "signups" link at top of the event details. Click that and then "signup broadcast".
