SUMMARY:Trail Sister's Guided Falls Creek Ride Led By Metropolis Adventure Team - 9/17
DESCRIPTION:Join NWTA’s Trail Sister’s & Metropolis Adventure Team for a guided ride on the spectacular Falls Creek trail. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\nJoin the Trail Sisters of Metropolis Adventure Team for a day in the Gifford Pinchot to experience this gem of a Washington trail. We will shuttle to Oldman Pass\, connecting to McLellen Meadows and then to Falls Creek Trail for a partial loop. We divide into groups based on ability\, fitness\, and riding goals. All groups will have the opportunity to session technical parts of the climbs and descents. There are many great snacking spots with a view\, as well as some geological features unique to the Gifford Pinchot. Bring your sense of adventure and join us for a day on the trail!  \n\n\n\n*Please assess your riding skills honestly. This ride requires fitness and technical skills. The trails we will ride are rated blue on Trailforks. We want everyone to be safe and have a good time. Feel free to reach out and inquire whether this will be a good fit for you! \n\n\n\n**There will be a riverside BBQ afterwards hosted by Metropolis Cycle Repair. Stay for a beverage\, food\, or just spend time to chat with the other participants and make more ride plans! Make sure to bring your camp chair. \n\n\n\nWe are not meeting at an established trailhead\, please use these coordinates to get to our meeting spot: 45.922321\, -121.947033 on Wind River Road. Expect spotty cell phone service in this area. \n\n\n\nWhat: Trail Sister’s Guided Falls Creek Ride lead by members of Metropolis Adventure Team; Intermediate to Advance skill level ride \n\n\n\n*Ride is 23 miles and 1500 ft of technical and punchy climbing; descending is technical with roots and rocks and some exposure \n\n\n\nWhen: September 17th (9:00 -9:30 shuttle organization and ride by 10:00; expect to be on the trail for 5 hours (3 pm) and hang out afterwards ) \n\n\n\nWhere: Wind River Road dropped pin at creek crossing  \n\n\n\nWho: Trail Sisters\, non-binary and trans Trail Sisters Welcome! \n\n\n\nHow: Please bring what you need to ride for a long day (comfortable riding clothes\, snacks\, sandwich\, water\, sunscreen\, repair kit\, helmet\, gloves\, etc.). SUMMARY:Cascade Locks Trail System Spring Campout and Trail Work Party - 6/23-25
DESCRIPTION:This event merges trail work\, group rides\, and camping\, making for a memorable MTB social event. —Building community as we build trail \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\nObjective: To build a new trail in the Columbia Gorge near Cascade Locks. When completed it will be a 15-mile trail that winds its way through an amazing forest on Forest Service land.  \n\n\n\nMeeting Location: Wyeth Campground next to the Wyeth Trailhead at 750 Herman Creek Rd. Cascade Locks\, OR 97014. \n\n\n\nAll ages and skill levels are welcome. \n\n\n\nAll MINOR Participants: Must complete the additional form & email the completed form to nathaniel.brodie@usda.gov in at least 7 days in advance of the work party: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1QQ1SjWhRSHDS82_gBpR2CgqRWE0K2GUm/view?usp=sharing \n\n\n\nBikes are not necessary for the work party\, but you are welcome to bring them if you want to ride the trails afterward. You will not be able to see your vehicle & you will want to be sure to secure your bike. \n\n\n\nWhat to bring for the work part: \n\n\n\n* Work clothes: Light long sleeve shirt\, Long Pants (no shorts)\, Boots\, Gloves\, Eye Protection & Gloves \n\n\n\n* Jacket (be prepared) \n\n\n\n* Hard hat or bike helmet (mandatory) \n\n\n\n* Water & Snacks \n\n\n\nNWTA will have tools will available\, but please bring your favorite tread tool if you have one (rakes\, McLeod\, rouge hoe\, loppers) \n\n\n\nWaiver – Once registered\, please sign the waiver HERE. \n\n\n\nCampout details: \n\n\n\nNWTA has reserved large group sites at the Wyeth Campground for volunteers to stay FREE. These sites can accommodate up to 18 vehicles (must pre-register with the NWTA ‘campout’ option). If you are interested in camping and would like to rent your own site\, you can make your reservation at https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/122940 \n\n\n\nFood will not be provided for Friday night campers (BYOB & BYOF) \n\n\n\nOn Saturday\, NWTA and our generous sponsors will provide a BBQ social for our hard-working volunteers. \n\n\n\nPET OWNERS: NWTA will have a group site within the public campground. If you bring your pet\, know that you cannot leave them unattended at the campground. Due to the trail’s steep hillside & narrow terrain\, we DO NOT recommend that they join you while working on the trail. \n\n\n\nPlease bring firewood if you can. \n\n\n\nThis will be a large event and space will be limited. \n\n\n\nPlease sign up soon to reserve your spot (and help us pre-plan the logistics).

SUMMARY:Cascade Locks Dig Day #3 - 5/13
DESCRIPTION:Our third work party out at the brand new CLIMB system in the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\nNWTA and the Cascade Locks team are excited to offer our trail stewards and volunteers an opportunity to participate in a challenging hand-build for a section of the new trails at Cascade Locks\, south of I-84. The work will entail building new trail with lots of challenging rock work. \n\n\n\nIf you got a tool (shovel\, hoe\, loppers\, handsaw\, or rock bar) you like\, feel free to bring it. Otherwise I’ll have a decent number of tools in my truck and a lot of the work we can do with hands. \n\n\n\nWhat to bring: \n\n\n\n\nHead protection (hard hat or bike helmet)\n\n\n\nWork gloves\,\n\n\n\nEye protection\n\n\n\nSturdy footwear\n\n\n\nLunch\, snacks and water\n\n\n\nWhatever clothing you need to feel comfortable in the weather +/- 10 degrees and maybe some rain.\n\n\n\n\nWhere to meet: \n\n\n\nWe’re able to park on the side of the road and then walk less than 100 yards into the woods to get to the trail.  \n\n\n\nEventbrite doesn’t do well with locations without official addresses\, so here’s a pin in Google Maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/RFGkRgfphz66rvxc7 \n\n\n\nLook for my gold Tacoma with a green camper and the #letnwtahelp banner hanging from the tailgate. \n\n\n\nWe’ll starts congregating and socializing at 9:30. DESCRIPTION:Join NWTA at the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area for its 1st work party/campout weekend in 2022. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nWorkparty Date: Saturday May 21\, 2022 / 9am-3pm \n\n\n\nCampout Dates: Friday\, May 20th – Sunday\, May 22nd. \n\n\n\nMeet at the Wyeth Campground next to the Wyeth Trailhead at 750 Herman Creek Rd. Cascade Locks\, OR 97014. \n\n\n\nWithin the project to build new trails near Cascade Locks\, we have also been asked to Rehabilitate the existing Gorge 400 trail. The project provides a unique opportunity to work on rock treads\, drainages\, a stream crossing\, and a spring.  \n\n\n\nAll ages and skill levels are welcome. \n\n\n\nBikes are not needed for the work party\, but you are welcome to bring them if you want to ride the trails afterward.
