DESCRIPTION:The Trail Sustainability Institute will be hosting Trail School at Klootchy Creek specifically for Trail Sisters (women/trans/femme). \n\n\n\nREGISTER HERE \n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nTrail Sisters! Join us for Trail School out on our coastal trails at Klootchy Creek on January 22nd. The event is for the Women/Trans/Femme community to build confidence in\, and understanding of\, trail maintenance in an encouraging environment.  \n\n\n\nTrail School covers the fundamental skills needed to maintain our trails. Trail Sisters will be learning safety techniques and tool identification/uses\, as well as hands-on training of corridor clearing\, drainage\, tread\, and benchwork. If you are interested in learning the “how” and “why” of trail maintenance\, this is the place for you!  \n\n\n\nCOVID Protocols \n\n\n\nDue to COVID-19\, masks are mandatory when you cannot maintain safe social distancing. We have also had to limit the number of participants. DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday\, February 26h at LL Stub Stewart Trail System for two large projects! \n\n\n\n\nRegister here\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nJoin us on Saturday\, February 26th\, from 9 am – 2 pm at LL Stub Stewart Trail System\, meeting at the Hilltop Parking area.  \n\n\n\nWe will be tackling two large projects. ` \n\n\n\n1. We have been given the approval to create a Shoofly Bridge Bypass which will reopen the Shoofly trail. Yay!!! \n\n\n\n2. Put the finishing touches on Williams Creek Project by finishing up the final section of the trail. \n\n\n\nBoth of these projects will lead to the reopening of a couple of loved trails and riding routes just in time for the riding season. \n\n\n\nWe need Carpenters and folks to do Dirt work. \n\n\n\nTrail work will last approximately 5 hours\, wrapping up at 2:00.  \n\n\n\nWhat To Bring: \n\n\n\nWork clothes: Light long sleeve shirt\, Long Pants (no shorts)\, Boots\, Gloves\, Eye Protection & GlovesJacket (be prepared)Hard hat or bike helmet (mandatory)Water and snacksFavorite trail tool\, McLeod or Rouge Hoe (We have tools\, but please feel free to bring your own if you are more comfortable with your own).Face Covering as recommended by the CDCYour bike (we will be riding to the project site)\n\n\n\nSafety meeting promptly starts at 9 am. SUMMARY:Tillamook State Forest Work Party on 03/05
DESCRIPTION:Meeting Location\n\n\n\nReehers Camp at 8 am for a bike ride\, 10 am for trail work to follow. \n\n\n\ninfo\n\n\n\nOn Feb. 5 we gathered to continue tread work that was started in December on the .35 mile Gales Creek re-route in the Tillamook State Forest. In 3 hours\, we were able to finish roughing in the entire line and removed a couple of stumps. \n\n\n\nThe next date for work on this project is Saturday\, March 5th to begin to finish tread work. And – as always – there is ongoing maintenance (logout\, brushing\, tread repair) in various spots in the non-motorized network in the Tillamook. \n\n\n\nsign up\n\n\n\nPlease contact TillamookSF@nw-trail.org if you’re interested in helping out.

DESCRIPTION:Let’s do some work on Gorge Trail 400! \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nWe would like you to join us for a unique opportunity to work on a legacy project in the Columbia River Gorge near Cascade Locks on the Gorge 400 Trail. NWTA does not get to build or modify mountain bike trails on federal land in a national scenic area that often. This is a project that will be in the public trust for generations. \n\n\n\nWithin the project to build new trails near Cascade Locks\, we have also been asked to Rehabilitate the existing Gorge 400 trail. The project provides a unique opportunity to apply a different set of trail building techniques to the existing rock treads\, drainages\, a stream crossing\, and spring. \n\n\n\nWhere: Wyeth Campground next to the Wyeth Trailhead at 750 Herman Creek Rd. Cascade Locks\, OR 97014. \n\n\n\nWhen: Saturday\, April 9th. We START at 10:00am and finish up at 3:00pm . Please have you and your gear ready at 10am. Arriving 15 minutes early is always a good idea. We will be meeting at the Wyeth Campground. \n\n\n\nWhat To Bring: Water\, snacks\, lunch. Check the weather forecast. Don’t be fooled\, we live in the PNW. Bring layers and a rain jacket\, gloves\, and sturdy shoes. Bring tools if you have them\, if not we will have extras. A hard hat or bike helmet is REQUIRED.  \n\n\n\nWhy: Just like nearly everywhere else\, the trails near Cascade Locks are maintained by volunteers. This means\, if we didn’t maintain these trails\, we wouldn’t have trails. It’s as easy as that. When we are stewards for our trails\, we are creating opportunities for ourselves\, others\, and for generations to come. That is our ‘why’! \n\n\n\nBikes aren’t needed for the work party\, but if you want to ride the trails afterward\, you are welcome to bring them. DESCRIPTION:Join NWTA at the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area for its 1st work party/campout weekend in 2022. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nWorkparty Date: Saturday May 21\, 2022 / 9am-3pm \n\n\n\nCampout Dates: Friday\, May 20th – Sunday\, May 22nd. \n\n\n\nMeet at the Wyeth Campground next to the Wyeth Trailhead at 750 Herman Creek Rd. Cascade Locks\, OR 97014. \n\n\n\nWithin the project to build new trails near Cascade Locks\, we have also been asked to Rehabilitate the existing Gorge 400 trail. The project provides a unique opportunity to work on rock treads\, drainages\, a stream crossing\, and a spring.  \n\n\n\nAll ages and skill levels are welcome. \n\n\n\nBikes are not needed for the work party\, but you are welcome to bring them if you want to ride the trails afterward. You will not be within sight of your vehicle & you will want to be sure to secure your bike.  \n\n\n\nWhat to bring for the work party: \n\n\n\n* Work clothes: Light long sleeve shirt\, Long Pants (no shorts)\, Boots\, Gloves\, Eye Protection & Gloves \n\n\n\n* Jacket (be prepared) \n\n\n\n* Hard hat or bike helmet (mandatory) \n\n\n\n* Water \n\n\n\n* Snacks  \n\n\n\n* Lunch \n\n\n\n* Face Covering as recommended by the CDC (in case we can’t maintain social proper social distancing) \n\n\n\nNWTA will have tools will available\, but please bring your favorite tread tool if you have one (rakes\, McLeod\, rouge hoe\, loppers) \n\n\n\nWaiver – Once registered\, please sign the waiver HERE. \n\n\n\nIf you have questions or need to get in touch on the day of the event\, please contact Bob: at 703-424-0091 \n\n\n\nCampout details: \n\n\n\nNWTA has reserved large group sites at the Wyeth Campground for volunteers to stay at no charge. If you are interested in camping and would like a site of your own\, feel free to reserve at https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/122940 \n\n\n\nFood will not be provided for Friday night campers \n\n\n\nAfter the work party\, NWTA will provide a cooler of beverages\, Beer from our generous sponsor\, HOPWORKS. Several BBQs will be available for use. \n\n\n\nPET (DOG) OWNERS: NWTA will have a group site within the public campground. If you bring your pet\, know that you cannot leave them unattended at the campground. Due to the steep hillside & narrow terrain of the trail\, we DO NOT recommend that they join you while working on the trail.  \n\n\n\nPlease bring firewood if you can.

DESCRIPTION:We need one more big push to get this dialed and ready to open. \n\n\n\n\nregister\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nWe’ll be doing finish work on the new black trail in the clearcut. This line needs a lot of hand work to flow correctly and be safe. Get yourself out to help us finish this thing off so we can open it! Please come out and help us get this trail open!! \n\n\n\nPlease make sure that your NWTA Membership is current before you sign up. Part of our lease agreement stipulates anyone on the property needs to be a current NWTA member with a signed waiver. DESCRIPTION:Our first Dig Day in June is here! \n\n\n\n\nregister\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nAll skill levels are welcome and we provide the tools. Just bring your helmet and a snack. We’ll meet in the Klootchy Creek trailhead parking lot at 10am and go from there.  \n\n\n\nIf this is your first time\, you’re welcome to bring your bikes. We’ll drive to the top where the tool trailer is located – that way you don’t have to worry about leaving bikes unattended in the parking lot. Remember to dress for the weather\, and even though the forecast might say blue skies doesn’t mean it won’t rain anyway. We’ll also be working in some muddy areas\, so wear boots or shoes you won’t mind if they get trashed. \n\n\n\nSee you Sunday!

DESCRIPTION:SHIFT is BACK! Weekend campout around a work party on Saturday\, August 20th. The deadline to register is Wednesday\, August 17. \n\n\n\n\nregister\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nWorkparty Date: Saturday\, August 20th\, 2022 / 9 am-3 pm \n\n\n\nCampout Dates: Friday\, August 19th – Sunday\, August 21st. \n\n\n\nMeet at Marble Mountain Sno Park (NF-83\, Cougar WA 98616) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCamping:  Upper Marble Mountain parking lot.   \n\n\n\nThis is dispersed camping and no camp spots are available.No water is available.  There are Vault toilets (bring toilet paper)Camping will start Thursday evening\, but official NWTA camping is Friday through Sunday\n\n\n\nDirections: \n\n\n\nI-5 North to Woodland\, WA and take Hwy 503 east towards Mt St HelensHwy 503 will turn into NF90 after Yale lakeApproximately 6-7 miles past Yale lake turn left on NF83 towards Ape CanyonMarble mountain parking lot is about 8-10 miles from NF90 on the left\n\n\n\nDinner: 6pm \n\n\n\nThe menu is pulled pork sandwich\, potato salad\, coleslaw\, and blackberry cobbler.Please bring your own utensils and plates.  We might have a dishwashing station after dinner but plan accordingly if we don’t.  \n\n\n\nFriday & Sunday Rides:  9-9:30 depending upon the heat \n\n\n\nThere will be various rides from easy (<15 miles) to difficult (>25 miles) available.  Specific ride details will be determined at ride time.  Please plan to arrive 30 minutes early. \n\n\n\nGarbage/Recycling:  We are practicing  “pack it in pack it out”.  There will be no garbage or recycling cans available.  Everyone will be responsible for their own garbage and recycling. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAfter a 2-year hiatus\, our weekend party around a work party is back! This year we plan to work on the beloved Ape Canyon Trail and Sheep Canyon area.
