DESCRIPTION:Trail Sisters hears you and we are answering your call for a beginner group ride! Join us at Gateway Green for a chill\, guided ride. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThis will be a chill\, guided ride around the trails at Gateway Green. Ride at your own pace\, get comfy on your bike\, learn from others\, and maybe come away with a riding buddy or two! \n\n\n\nMeet at the north end of the park near the entrances of Ted’s Traverse and Meadow Loop. Your ride leaders will meet you there\, go over bike safety\, talk about route options\, and show you around the park! \n\n\n\nNote this is not a clinic\, just an opportunity to come together and ride with other women who are just getting into mountain biking. \n\n\n\nPlease bring: \n\n\n\n\nA mountain bike in good working order (just front\, or front and rear suspension\, knobby tires\, enough gears to get you up hills\, flat handlebar\, tires pumped\, sealant checked\, bolts tight\, chain clean and lubed\, brakes and shifters working)\n\n\n\n\n\nSnacks and water\n\n\n\nA multi-tool\, hand pump\, and extra tube are also good to have!\n\n\n\n\nIf you reigster but find that you are not able to make it\, please cancel your Eventbrite registration so our ride leaders have a good idea of how many folks to expect. \n\n\n\nOnce registered\, please sign the waiver HERE. \n\n\n\nContact carriej@nw-trail.org with any questions.

SUMMARY:Powell Butte Ecologist-led Nature Ride - 6/10
DESCRIPTION:Join NWTA and Portland Parks & Rec Ecologist Christian Haaning for a guided mountain bike tour of Powell Butte’s flora and fauna. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nNWTA is thrilled to collaborate with Portland Parks and Recreation’s Christian Haaning\, who serves as a Natural Resource Ecologist for Powell Butte Nature Park and broader East Portland. \n\n\n\nPowell Butte offers miles of mountain biking trails right here within Portland city limits\, and is also home to a diverse populations of plants an animals. \n\n\n\nIn this guided tour\, participants will meet at the main parking area\, and join Christian and NWTA staff for a casual-paced ride through the park\, with stops along the way to point out areas of interest and connect with the area more deeply. Expect to ride 3-5 miles on trails at a conversational pace. \n\n\n\nParticipation is limited to 12. There is no cost to join\, but please cancel your order if you’re unable to join us to allow for others to participate. \n\n\n\nPlease note that no e-bikes will be permitted for this ride. \n\n\n\nFor any questions please contact Eric Oliver\, erico@nw-trail.org.

We will visit the recently harvested areas and discuss approaches to ecological silviculture in western Oregon. SUMMARY:Ride with a Wildlife Biologist at Chehalem Ridge - 6/24
DESCRIPTION:Join NWTA and Metro Natural Resource Scientist and Wildlife Biologist Katy Weil for a MTB ride around Chehalem Ridge. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\nNWTA is thrilled to collaborate with Metro’s Katy Weil \, who serves as a Natural Resource Scientist and Wildlife Biologist for Metro. \n\n\n\nAs we move through the nature park on our ride together\, we will observe sections of coniferous forest\, Oregon white oak woodland and savannah\, and the native shrubs in between. Chehalem Ridge Nature Park is more than just the publicly-accessible trails themselves. There are varied habitats here with diverse natural resources\, much of which is managed as natural area preserve. We will talk together about the various wildlife species that use these habitats\, and Katy can share information of past and present biological monitoring that has taken place throughout the park. \n\n\n\nIn breaks along the ride\, Katy will lead discussion on topics including the hidden seasonal wetlands that host native frog and salamander tadpoles; open spaces with grassland birds\, such as White-crowned Sparrows; and any other questions regarding who lives within this space at any time of year. \n\n\n\nTo familiarize themselves with the area\, attendees are encouraged to look at the Chehalem Ridge website prior to the event. \n\n\n\nRide details: 5-7 miles with intermittent breaks\, and roughly 500 feet of elevation climbing at a social pace. This is a no-drop ride\, meaning no one will be left behind. \n\n\n\nMeeting place: We’ll meet near the restrooms at the Chehalem Ridge parking lot. \n\n\n\nFor questions please reach out to Eric (erico@nw-trail.org).
