Cost: $40 donation to NWTA (scholarships available email elaine.b@elainebbikes.com) \n\n\n\nDrop off & Pick up location: Gateway Fred Meyer Parking Lot\, Corner of NE 99th & NE Pacific  \n\n\n\nEvent Location: Gateway Green  \n\n\n\nRequired Gear:  \n\n\n\n– A mountain bike in good working condition. We have a limited amount of Trek bikes to loan. Please add your rider’s height information when registering. \n\n\n\n– A properly fitting helmet in good condition and is less than 5 years old* (Loaners available) \n\n\n\n– Water bottle and snacks \n\n\n\n– Clothing appropriate for the weather \n\n\n\n– Pack to carry layers\, snacks\, and water \n\n\n\nRecommended Gear: \n\n\n\n– Full Fingered Gloves \n\n\n\n– Knee and elbow protection \n\n\n\n– Eye protectionIntermediate \n\n\n\nParticipants should have their own water\, wear layers appropriate for the weather\, and have a backpack to take with them to the park. No items will stay at the drop-off site.  \n\n\n\nWe will ride if it is lightly raining but may cancel if it is heavy rain. Watch your emails by noon the day of the class. Rider Experience: Intermediate/Advanced with at least 2-4 years of riding on dirt trails  \n\n\n\nThese riders are already comfortable riding a bike on “Blue” and may be riding parts of more technical “Black” trails\, and over most of whatever features come along\, 8-12” high\, at least downhill. They can stand and coast confidently on even pedals for entire sections of the trail\, and they can shift gears and corner comfortably. They may be starting to jump and land on top of tables\, and they are interested in dropping features up to 12-14” high\, learning to ride pump tracks or rolling terrain faster\, without pedaling. They can easily ride 2-4 miles or more on a trail or bike path. \n\n\n\nDuring this class: these riders will continue to improve their balance over varying and more technical terrain\, brake and corner even quicker\, and shift before it’s too late. They’ll learn to climb\, descend and ride both faster and more slowly with confidence. They’ll have fun riding technical roll downs and drops 10-14” high. The wheels will leave the ground in this class\, after all\, Dragons are learning to clear jumps! \n\n\n\nBike: A Flying Dragon’s bike has platform pedals\, two-hand brakes\, a seat that can move up and down\, and is in good working condition. Single speeds are OK but a bike with gears will be more fun on the climbs. No coaster brakes\, kickstands\, baskets\, or fenders. Cost: $10 donation to NWTA\, scholarships available (email elaine.b@elainebbikes.com). \n\n\n\nKNOW YOUR CAPABILITIES \n\n\n\nRider Experience: Beginner/Intermediate with at least 1-2 years of riding on dirt trails  \n\n\n\nBeginners are riders with some experience but want to be more confident and have more fun riding a bike on “Green” mountain bike trails as well as dirt\, grass\, and varied terrain. You can shift gears\, corner\, climb and descend\, but there are a few places where they need to get off the bike to walk. You are interested in rolling over taller features\, and possibly riding pump tracks (or rolling terrain) without pedaling the whole time. You can ride 2 miles or more on a trail or bike path. \n\n\n\nThis class is for: a beginning to intermediate rider who has taken a class or two but wants some skills to handle some more technical features. \n\n\n\nDuring this class: Riders will review their basic body position and spend more time riding over varying terrain including trails and rolling terrain\, as well as brake and corner with more confidence. They’ll learn to climb\, descend and ride faster; they’ll also learn slow-riding skills to have fun riding more technical trails with features up to 2” high or so on the way up and up to 4” or so high on the way down. We will also discuss riding in a group and trail etiquette\, basic bike fit information\, decision-making on the trail on whether to ride a feature or not and safe bailout techniques when things get too interesting.  \n\n\n\nBike: A mountain bike\, either a hardtail or full suspension in good working condition with platform pedals\, knobby tires\, two-hand brakes (front and rear)\, and a seat that can move up and down. Single speeds are OK but a bike with gears will be more fun on the climbs. The deadline to register is Wednesday\, August 17. \n\n\n\n\nregister\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nWorkparty Date: Saturday\, August 20th\, 2022 / 9 am-3 pm \n\n\n\nCampout Dates: Friday\, August 19th – Sunday\, August 21st. \n\n\n\nMeet at Marble Mountain Sno Park (NF-83\, Cougar WA 98616) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCamping:  Upper Marble Mountain parking lot.   \n\n\n\nThis is dispersed camping and no camp spots are available.No water is available.  There are Vault toilets (bring toilet paper)Camping will start Thursday evening\, but official NWTA camping is Friday through Sunday\n\n\n\nDirections: \n\n\n\nI-5 North to Woodland\, WA and take Hwy 503 east towards Mt St HelensHwy 503 will turn into NF90 after Yale lakeApproximately 6-7 miles past Yale lake turn left on NF83 towards Ape CanyonMarble mountain parking lot is about 8-10 miles from NF90 on the left\n\n\n\nDinner: 6pm \n\n\n\nThe menu is pulled pork sandwich\, potato salad\, coleslaw\, and blackberry cobbler.Please bring your own utensils and plates.  We might have a dishwashing station after dinner but plan accordingly if we don’t.  \n\n\n\nFriday & Sunday Rides:  9-9:30 depending upon the heat \n\n\n\nThere will be various rides from easy (<15 miles) to difficult (>25 miles) available.  Specific ride details will be determined at ride time.  Please plan to arrive 30 minutes early. \n\n\n\nGarbage/Recycling:  We are practicing  “pack it in pack it out”.  There will be no garbage or recycling cans available.  Everyone will be responsible for their own garbage and recycling. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAfter a 2-year hiatus\, our weekend party around a work party is back! This year we plan to work on the beloved Ape Canyon Trail and Sheep Canyon area. Be prepared & bring everything that you need.  \n\n\n\nBathroom – 2 vault toilets (bring toilet paper!). \n\n\n\nPET (DOG) OWNERS: If you bring your pet\, know that you cannot leave them unattended at the base camp. DESCRIPTION:Join NWTA at the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area for its 1st work party/campout weekend in 2022. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nWorkparty Date: Saturday May 21\, 2022 / 9am-3pm \n\n\n\nCampout Dates: Friday\, May 20th – Sunday\, May 22nd. \n\n\n\nMeet at the Wyeth Campground next to the Wyeth Trailhead at 750 Herman Creek Rd. Cascade Locks\, OR 97014. \n\n\n\nWithin the project to build new trails near Cascade Locks\, we have also been asked to Rehabilitate the existing Gorge 400 trail. The project provides a unique opportunity to work on rock treads\, drainages\, a stream crossing\, and a spring.  \n\n\n\nAll ages and skill levels are welcome. \n\n\n\nBikes are not needed for the work party\, but you are welcome to bring them if you want to ride the trails afterward. Whether you’re a mountain biker\, trail runner\, hiker or equestrian\, trail work veteran or first-timer\, we welcome you. \n  \nTRAIL MIX is presented by Northwest Trail Alliance\, Trailkeepers of Oregon\, Daybreak Racing and the Oregon Timber Trail Association in a volunteer partnership with the Oregon Department of Forestry. \n  \nDATE: March 30\, 2019 \nLOCATION: Gales Creek Campground on HWY 6 (Wilson River Highway) near milepost 35 \nTIME: Safety meeting begins at 9:30am. Work from 10am – 2pm \nWHAT TO BRING: Sturdy boots\, work gloves\, eye protection\, long sleeved shirt\, pants\, rain gear if wet\, hard hat or bike helmet (extra hard hats will be available if you do not have one)\, drinking water\, lunch/snacks. \nSIGN-UP: You must fill out the sign up form prior to the work date. This is critical to our planning purposes. \n  \nALL TRAIL WORK TOOLS WILL BE PROVIDED by event supporters!! If you have your own had tools\, please bring them if you would like to. \n  \nTIMELINE: We will break into small groups\, each led by an experienced crew leader who will guide their work throughout the day on their trail section. Cleanup efforts include raking\, drainage clearing & fixing minor tread issues along the Gales Creek\, Storey Burn & Historic Hiking Trail Loops. \n  \nAFTER PARTY!: We will offer a chili dinner\, carbonated beverages & beer from our generous sponsor Hopworks Urban Brewery (for age appropriate volunteers) at the end of the work day at Gales Creek Campground Base Camp\, along with great raffle prizes donated by event sponsors. Camping & an opportunity for a ride/run/hike the following day (Sunday March 31st) is being planned but will be highly dependent upon weather conditions Expect and update regarding this option as we get closer to the work date. \nEmail updates will be sent to preregistered volunteers.
