SUMMARY:Guided Ride at Cascade Locks (Adult Beginners 18+) - 7/16
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a guided ride on some of the best trails around!  \n\n\n\n\nREGISTER HERE\n\n\n\n\nThese rides will start out with reviewing the most basic skills and will offer light instruction as needed for particular features. We will have a single group and split the group into smaller groups as staffing allows. We will ride to the level of the least experienced riders. This is a no drop ride (no riders left behind). \n\n\n\nWe will regroup at trail intersections and as needed for snacks or layer changes. \n\n\n\nRider Experience: Beginner with very little experience on dirt trails \n\n\n\nThese riders are already comfortable riding a bike but have very little if any experience riding on dirt or gravel. They can shift gears and corner\, but it might not go as smoothly as it could — or at the right time. They are interested in riding on dirt\, exploring green trails and learning more about mountain biking. They can ride 1-2 miles on a trail or bike path. \n\n\n\nDuring this ride: these riders will learn how to balance over varying terrain\, braking and cornering techniques\, how and when to stand on the pedals and shift. They’ll practice getting on and off the bike and learn how to push the bike up or down places they don’t feel quite ready to ride! \n\n\n\nMaximum Number of Participants per class: 8 (wait list available). For ages 18+. \n\n\n\nBike:* The bike should have platform pedals\, two hand brakes (front and rear)\, a seat that can move up and down\, and is in good working condition. Single speeds are OK but a bike with gears will be more fun on the climbs. No coaster brakes\, worn out tires or kickstands.  \n\n\n\nRequired Gear: \n\n\n\n-A properly fitting helmet in good condition and is less than 5 years old* \n\n\n\n-Water bottle that fits in a bottle cage or backpack with bladder  \n\n\n\n-Clothing appropriate for the weather \n\n\n\n-Tools for moving the seat up and down if necessary \n\n\n\n-Backpack to carry layers\, snacks\, tools and water \n\n\n\nRecommended Gear: \n\n\n\n-Full fingered gloves \n\n\n\n-Knee and elbow protection \n\n\n\n-Eye protection \n\n\n\n-Tools and supplies to change a flat tire (with assistance!) \n\n\n\n*We have helmets and limited sizes of mountain bikes to loan! Please inquire upon registration if you need a loaner bike or helmet.

We will split the group into Green Geckos (beginners) and Leapin’ Lizards (intermediates) and split into smaller groups as staffing allows. We will ride to the level of the least experienced riders. \n\n\n\nWe will regroup at trail intersections and as needed for snacks or layer changes. \n\n\n\nRider Experience: Beginner/intermediate with 1-2+ years of riding on dirt trails. Ages 7-12. \n\n\n\nBeginner Green Geckos: These riders are already comfortable riding a bike on some “Green” mountain bike trails as well as dirt and grass\, and over some features up to 3-4 inches high. They can stand and coast confidently on even pedals for entire sections of trail\, and they can shift gears and corner comfortably. They may be starting to jump and land on top of tables\, and they are interested in dropping features up to 12-14” high\, learning to ride pump tracks or rolling terrain faster\, without pedaling. They can easily ride 2-4 miles or more on a trail or bike path. \n\n\n\nDuring this class: these riders will continue to improve their balance over varying and more technical terrain\, brake and corner even quicker and shift before it’s too late. They’ll learn to climb\, descend and ride both faster and more slowly with confidence. They’ll and have fun riding technical roll downs and drops 10-14” high. The wheels will leave the ground in this class\, after all\, Dragons are learning to clear jumps! \n\n\n\nBike: A Flying Dragon’s bike has platform pedals\, two hand brakes\, a seat that can move up and down\, and is in good working condition. Single speeds are OK but a bike with gears will be more fun on the climbs. No coaster brakes\, kickstands\, baskets or fenders. A Dragon’s helmet fits properly\, is in good condition\, and is less than 5 years old. \n\n\n\nRequired Gear:  \n\n\n\n-A properly fitting helmet in good condition and is less than 5 years old*  \n\n\n\n-Water bottle and snacks \n\n\n\n-Clothing appropriate for the weather \n\n\n\n-Pack to carry layers\, snacks\, and water \n\n\n\nRecommended Gear: \n\n\n\n– Full-fingered gloves \n\n\n\n-Knee and elbow protection \n\n\n\n-Eye protection \n\n\n\n*We have a limited amount of bikes & helmets to loan!
