SUMMARY:NW Trail Sisters January Book Club
DESCRIPTION:We’re starting a book club! The first meeting will be Thursday\, January 10 at Lori’s house in NoPo (RSVP that you’re coming and she’ll send you the address). She does have cats so\, if anyone’s really allergic\, we may need to relocate. \nWe’ll be reading Breaking Trail by Arlene Blum. (https://www.powells.com/book/-9780156031165) This is the story of a bad ass woman breaking through in the male-dominate sport of high-altitude climbing in the 1970s and forging a path for women to follow in her footsteps. \nPlease indicate in the comments if you’ll be bringing a snack to share with the group. Lori will have some beer and fizzy water on hand to share\, but feel free to bring wine or whatever else you’d like to share. \nElly Blue from Microcosm books will be joining us to talk about Microcosm’s awesome selection of WTF authors and she’ll also have some suggestions for future books for our group. Please feel free to suggest any books/authors you’ve been wanting to read and would like to bring to the group’s attention. \nPlease RSVP on the Facebook event or\, if you’re not down with the FB\, email Lori directly.

SUMMARY:Stub Williams Creek Horseshoe Trail Work Party
DESCRIPTION:In partnership with Trailkeepers of Oregon\, NWTA is co-hosting a trail work party at LL Stub Stewart State Park to realign the Williams Creek Horseshoe trail – transforming it from an old\, overgrown logging road into an undulating\, creekside multi-use trail for hikers\, equestrians\, and mountain bikers. \nThe realignment follows the contours of Williams Creek south of the Banks Vernonia State Trail and offers beautiful creek views.  The Williams Creek Horseshoe realignment project will provide a cross-country trail riding alternative to the paved BVST between the Shoofly MTB trailhead and the Buxton BVST trailhead. \nWork Party Logistics: \n8:30am – 3:30pm Friday\, November 30 \nThis will be a follow up to a first pass of clearing brush and duff material from the flagged corridor planned for the new trail realignment 4\,800 feet in length. The corridor is clear\, now is the time to build the trail tread! \nDirections to the worksite will be provided to registered volunteers no later than 48 hours prior to the work party date\, along with any other necessary information. \nRegistration: \nVolunteers should sign up via the Trailkeepers of Oregon Eventbite site below\, and direct questions to David Rogers at StubStewart@nw-trail.org. \nhttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/stub-new-trail-party-registration-52878614359

SUMMARY:NW Trail Sisters' intermediate+ ride @ Dog River
DESCRIPTION:The NW Trail Sisters’ July ride will be outside of Hood River exploring the newest trails in the 44 Trails system. We’ll meet at the Dog River Trailhead and then shuttle up to the top of Upper Cooks Meadow. \nThis ride is open to intermediate+ riders who identify as women/trans/femme or gender NC. This is an intermediate+ ride due to the length (16 miles)\, elevation gain (1K+)\, descent (5K) and technical features. Please respect this skills filter. No one will have a good time if we’re not all physically able to handle the strenuousness of the ride and skilled enough to ride the trail. \nBring a NW Forest Parking Pass! \nSince we’ll be shuttling\, it’s important that folks who are coming register (via Eventbrite) so we can plan out the shuttle vehicles. If anyone has a pickup they can bring\, that would be AWESOME! \nPlease check out the trail descriptions before the ride to ensure you know what you’re in for. It’s an amazing ride and we’re looking forward to sharing it with y’all! \nCooks Meadow Voice over Trail: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cDwi825H3A\nDog River Voice over Trail: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhGOxLPhLdg \nTrailforks:\nhttps://www.trailforks.com/trails/upper-cooks-meadow-trail-639/\nhttps://www.trailforks.com/trails/cooks-meadow-trail-639/\nhttps://www.trailforks.com/trails/dog-river-trail-675/ \nMore information about the 44 Trails Association here: http://www.44trails.org/
