SUMMARY:NWTA August Youth Ride @ Stub Stewart
DESCRIPTION:The Northwest Trail Alliance and the Oregon League are excited to continue our NWTA monthly youth rides! These rides are designed to provide a safe space for youth riders to meet and to develop confidence on the trails.  These rides are free\, but we ask that you register at least 24 hours in prior to ride.  The NWTA Youth Rides will be happening monthly through the summer on July 7\, August 4 & September 2. \nAlthough not clinics\, the NWTA youth rides will be led by coaches from the Oregon League and are open to youth of all riding abilities. The NWTA youth rides are generally for teen riders\, however\, younger children with mountain biking experience and who are comfortable riding without their parents are welcome to attend. Please note that because the NWTA youth rides are not clinics participants will have the best time if they have some cursory mountain biking experience. \nPlease bring a mechanically sound mountain bike\, helmet\, closed-toed shoes\, water and snacks. Elbow and knee pads are recommended. \nNWTA will host a corresponding ride for chauffeurs and advanced youth riders. Come ride with us! \nThe Oregon League was founded in 2017 as a non-profit (501(c)(3) Project League of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA). They facilitate the development of high school and middle school teams/clubs for grades 6-12 and provide the education\, training\, licensing\, and insurance for coaches and volunteers. They also produce high-quality mountain bike events and races that emphasize the value of participation\, camaraderie\, positive sporting behavior\, and well-being over competition. \nThe Northwest Trail Alliance is an all-volunteer\, non-profit organization based in Portland\, Oregon. We are one of the Northwest’s leading mountain bike advocacy and trail stewardship groups and we are committed to making mountain biking more accessible and building the NW mountain biking community.

DESCRIPTION:The NW Trail Sisters’ July ride will be outside of Hood River exploring the newest trails in the 44 Trails system. We’ll meet at the Dog River Trailhead and then shuttle up to the top of Upper Cooks Meadow. \nThis ride is open to intermediate+ riders who identify as women/trans/femme or gender NC. This is an intermediate+ ride due to the length (16 miles)\, elevation gain (1K+)\, descent (5K) and technical features. Please respect this skills filter. No one will have a good time if we’re not all physically able to handle the strenuousness of the ride and skilled enough to ride the trail. \nBring a NW Forest Parking Pass! \nSince we’ll be shuttling\, it’s important that folks who are coming register (via Eventbrite) so we can plan out the shuttle vehicles. SUMMARY:Falls Creek Trail Brush-Out Ride
DESCRIPTION:​Come join us for a hearty helping of a ride on one of the iconic trails in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest\, along with a side of stewardship. This trail has been and NWTA favorite for years\, and we helped to improve the ride experience in 2016 by spearheading reroute from a mid-trail dirt road descent\, onto four miles of bike-optimized singletrack. \nThis May will be holding a full day ride where we will also brush out the trail and clear any downed trees from the winter. We will also be working to bring an abandoned road back into service for bikes in order to ease congestion at the multi-usergroup trailhead. Once back at the cars\, the grill will get fired up and you’ll enjoy chips\, brats and beers! \nThe full ride will be ~20 miles as we will be climbing the scenic Wind River Road before turning onto the dirt at Oldman Pass SnoPark. Due to the stewardship aspect of the day\, this will be a social paced ride with regroups at every intersection as necessary. If you’ve never experienced the Falls Creek Trail\, this is a great opportunity to do so! \nMeet at the pull out ~3 miles past the the turn-off for the the trailhead (FS Road 152) at 10am (look for the NWTA sign).
