SUMMARY: Klootchy Creek Dirt Wave Race Series - 6/3-4
DESCRIPTION:Register to Ride the Dirt Wave at Klootchy Creek! Ride the Dirt Wave race series was created to showcase mountain bike trail systems on the Oregon Coast\, with two days of riding in each location. Day one has several “fun ride” options open to many levels of riders. These rides will be led by members of the NWTA Klootchy Creek team that built and regularly maintain the trails – showcasing the favorite trails in the area. Day two is race day!  The Flow Duro Challenge Race is a fun\, fast-paced\, timed competition down a short\, flowy\, mostly downhill trail. It combines all of our favorite elements of friendly competition down sweeping trails with a small amount of climbing and a large amount of fun!  This is a great opportunity to come out and get to know the trails in a fun and supportive environment. The celebration of the Klootchy Creek trails includes food\, music & beverages on site. Food carts and local beer will be available for purchase. \n\n\n\nThis is a OBRA-sanctioned event; registration is REQUIRED through the Ride the Dirt Wave event site: https://www.thedirtwave.com/klootchy-creek/ \n\n\n\nVOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED to help host Ride the Dirt Wave at Klootchy! Please contact lisao@nw-trail.org if you’re interested in volunteering.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a guided ride on some of the best trails around!  \n\n\n\n\nREGISTER HERE\n\n\n\n\nThese rides will start out with reviewing the most basic skills and will offer light instruction as needed for particular features. We will have a single group and split the group into smaller groups as staffing allows. We will ride to the level of the least experienced riders. This is a no drop ride (no riders left behind). \n\n\n\nWe will regroup at trail intersections and as needed for snacks or layer changes. \n\n\n\nRider Experience: Beginner with very little experience on dirt trails \n\n\n\nThese riders are already comfortable riding a bike but have very little if any experience riding on dirt or gravel. They are interested in riding on dirt\, exploring green trails and learning more about mountain biking. They can ride 1-2 miles on a trail or bike path. \n\n\n\nDuring this ride: these riders will learn how to balance over varying terrain\, braking and cornering techniques\, how and when to stand on the pedals and shift. They’ll practice getting on and off the bike and learn how to push the bike up or down places they don’t feel quite ready to ride! \n\n\n\nMaximum Number of Participants per class: 8 (wait list available). For ages 18+. \n\n\n\nBike:* The bike should have platform pedals\, two hand brakes (front and rear)\, a seat that can move up and down\, and is in good working condition. Single speeds are OK but a bike with gears will be more fun on the climbs. No coaster brakes\, worn out tires or kickstands.  \n\n\n\nRequired Gear: \n\n\n\n-A properly fitting helmet in good condition and is less than 5 years old* \n\n\n\n-Water bottle that fits in a bottle cage or backpack with bladder  \n\n\n\n-Clothing appropriate for the weather \n\n\n\n-Tools for moving the seat up and down if necessary \n\n\n\n-Backpack to carry layers\, snacks\, tools and water \n\n\n\nRecommended Gear: \n\n\n\n-Full fingered gloves \n\n\n\n-Knee and elbow protection \n\n\n\n-Eye protection \n\n\n\n-Tools and supplies to change a flat tire (with assistance!) \n\n\n\n*We have helmets and limited sizes of mountain bikes to loan! Please inquire upon registration if you need a loaner bike or helmet.

They are interested in rolling over taller features and riding pump tracks (or rolling terrain) without pedaling the whole time. They can ride 1-2 miles on a trail or bike path. \n\n\n\nDuring this class: Riders will continue to improve their balance over varying terrain including trails and pump tracks (or rolling terrain)\, as well as brake and corner with more confidence\, and shift more smoothly. They’ll learn to climb\, descend and ride faster; they’ll also learn slow-riding skills to have fun riding more technical trails including roll downs and drops 6-10” high – if they want to. The wheels may leave the ground on drops\, but we aren’t jumping quite yet. \n\n\n\nBike: The Green Gecko’s bike has platform pedals\, two hand brakes (front and rear)\, a seat that can move up and down\, and is in good working condition. Single speeds are OK but a bike with gears will be more fun on the climbs. No coaster brakes\, worn-out tires or kickstands. A Gecko’s helmet fits properly\, is in good condition\, and is less than 5 years old \n\n\n\nRequired Gear:  \n\n\n\n-A properly fitting helmet in good condition and is less than 5 years old*  \n\n\n\n-Water bottle and snacks \n\n\n\n-Clothing appropriate for the weather \n\n\n\n-Pack to carry layers\, snacks\, and water \n\n\n\nRecommended Gear: \n\n\n\n– Full-fingered gloves \n\n\n\n-Knee and elbow protection \n\n\n\n-Eye protection \n\n\n\n*We have a limited amount of bikes & helmets to loan! Please confirm with rider information during registration.  \n\n\n\nParticipants should have their own water\, wear layers appropriate for the weather\, and have a backpack to take with them to the park. No items will stay at the drop-off site.  \n\n\n\nQuestions?
