Are you ready to get dirty? \nWe are excited to announce the Trail Sisters Dig Series\, a set of dig days dedicated to skills and confidence building. We have four dig days scheduled at multiple locations where we will cover the ins-and-outs of trail building in a fun and supportive environment. \nJoin us at Rocky Point for the first installment of the Dig Series – Trail Fundamentals. This first event will focus on tool identification and use\, corridor clearing\, drainage mitigation\, and the overall nuts and bolts of trail maintenance. Cyclepath PDX will be sponsoring the event\, providing post-dig food\, drinks\, and (weather permitting) shuttles! \nWe welcome all women and non-binary folks interested in trail building to join us! No prior digging experience is necessary. \nWaiver: Once registered\, please sign the waiver HERE. \nWhat to bring: \n\nWarm clothing & extra layers: We will be outside in the cold\, dress warm and bring extra layers.\nRain jacket (and pants if you have them): It’s January in the PNW\, odds are high it’ll rain and that doesn’t stop us from digging!\nGloves (waterproof are best): It wouldn’t hurt to bring an extra pair\, too. DESCRIPTION:The Trail Sustainability Institute presents its first focused benching clinic at Rocky Point Trails. \n\n\n\nREGISTER HERE. \n\n\n\nThe Trail Sustainability Institute (TSI) presents its first focused clinic on how to properly bench cut a trail. This clinic’s instruction centers around the proper techniques and approaches when establishing or maintaining a trail’s bench.  \n\n\n\nWhat the heck is a bench? We are glad you asked! \n\n\n\nA bench is what is left after the excavation of a hillside to create a back slope and trail tread. This can be the most substantial part of establishing a trail that winds along a hillside.  \n\n\n\nJoin TSI while we pilot this skill-specific clinic. As we look to the future\, we hope to offer more opportunities for these types of distinctive skill-building clinics. Are you ready to get dirty? \n\n\n\n\nREGISTER HERE\n\n\n\n\nJoin us at Rocky Point for the fourth and final installment of the NW Trail Sisters Dig Series – Trail Maintenance! We will focus on drainage mitigation and the overall nuts and bolts of trail maintenance.  \n\n\n\nThe dig series is a set of dig days dedicated to skills and confidence building. We have four dig days scheduled at multiple locations where we will cover the ins-and-outs of trail building in a fun and supportive environment. \n\n\n\nWe welcome all women and non-binary folks interested in trail building to join us! No prior digging experience is necessary.  \n\n\n\nWaiver: Once registered\, please sign the waiver HERE. \n\n\n\nWhat to bring: \n\n\n\n\nWarm clothing & extra layers: We will be outside in the cold\, dress warm and bring extra layers.\n\n\n\nRain jacket (and pants if you have them): It’s January in the PNW\, odds are high it’ll rain and that doesn’t stop us from digging! \n\n\n\nGloves (waterproof are best): It wouldn’t hurt to bring an extra pair\, too. Cold hands suck!\n\n\n\nSturdy shoes\n\n\n\nHelmet or hard hat (required)\n\n\n\nEye protection \n\n\n\nWater\n\n\n\nSnacks & lunch\n\n\n\nBike and bike gear for post-digging rips\n\n\n\n\nTOOLS WILL BE PROVIDED. You are not required to bring any tools\, but if you have your own folding saw\, loppers\, rake\, shovel\, or hoe\, feel free to bring it. \n\n\n\nIn accordance with our agreement with Weyerhaeuser\, the land manager of Rocky Point\, those who enter the property must be a NWTA member in good standing and have signed the Rocky Point Waiver . DESCRIPTION:Join us to help clean up Rocky Point Rd. We will be doing trash pick-up from the lower shuttle parking lot on HWY 30 to the top shuttle gate (roughly a mile above the trailhead). This is a great opportunity to get outdoors\, meet new people\, and make a positive impact on our environment. \n\n\n\n\nRegister HERE\n\n\n\n\nMeeting Location: We will be meeting at the main entrance point for the trails at the Central Rocky Point Trailhead Parking on Rocky Point Road. \n\n\n\nAddress: 20955\, 23999 Rocky Point Rd\, Scappoose\, OR 97056 \n\n\n\nWhat to Bring: Volunteers should bring work gloves\, shoes\, water\, and sunscreen (being optimistic) and your bike if you plan to ride afterwards. We encourage you to bring a bucket and work gloves to support sustainability efforts. \n\n\n\nRestrooms: A porta potty will be available at this location. \n\n\n\nParking: There is some room to park along the road downhill from the trail entrance.
