DESCRIPTION:A beginner jump clinic for BIPOC (Black\, Indigenous\, People of Color) mountain bikers – Gateway Green 8/4 6:30-8:00 pm. \n\n\n\n\nregister\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nThe clinic will be covering basic through intermediate jumping skills This will depend on the class level of comfort. Expect to learn proper body position and form for learning and/or improving current jump skills on a bike. \n\n\n\nClass size is limited. Pre-registration required. \n\n\n\nBring water and a helmet. *Gloves and knee pads recommended.  \n\n\n\nLoaner dirt jumpers may be available. DESCRIPTION:SHIFT is BACK! Weekend campout around a work party on Saturday\, August 20th. The deadline to register is Wednesday\, August 17. \n\n\n\n\nregister\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nWorkparty Date: Saturday\, August 20th\, 2022 / 9 am-3 pm \n\n\n\nCampout Dates: Friday\, August 19th – Sunday\, August 21st. \n\n\n\nMeet at Marble Mountain Sno Park (NF-83\, Cougar WA 98616) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCamping:  Upper Marble Mountain parking lot.   \n\n\n\nThis is dispersed camping and no camp spots are available.No water is available.  There are Vault toilets (bring toilet paper)Camping will start Thursday evening\, but official NWTA camping is Friday through Sunday\n\n\n\nDirections: \n\n\n\nI-5 North to Woodland\, WA and take Hwy 503 east towards Mt St HelensHwy 503 will turn into NF90 after Yale lakeApproximately 6-7 miles past Yale lake turn left on NF83 towards Ape CanyonMarble mountain parking lot is about 8-10 miles from NF90 on the left\n\n\n\nDinner: 6pm \n\n\n\nThe menu is pulled pork sandwich\, potato salad\, coleslaw\, and blackberry cobbler.Please bring your own utensils and plates.  We might have a dishwashing station after dinner but plan accordingly if we don’t.  \n\n\n\nFriday & Sunday Rides:  9-9:30 depending upon the heat \n\n\n\nThere will be various rides from easy (<15 miles) to difficult (>25 miles) available.  Specific ride details will be determined at ride time.  Please plan to arrive 30 minutes early. \n\n\n\nGarbage/Recycling:  We are practicing  “pack it in pack it out”.  There will be no garbage or recycling cans available.  Everyone will be responsible for their own garbage and recycling. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAfter a 2-year hiatus\, our weekend party around a work party is back! This year we plan to work on the beloved Ape Canyon Trail and Sheep Canyon area. If you have questions about the work involved please email Jim Lemonds at Growlers@nw-trail.org \n\n\n\nWe will be working in areas you will have to access via riding your bike. When registering please be honest with your riding skill and stamina in order for us to get you into the right workgroup.  \n\n\n\nWhat to bring for the work party: \n\n\n\nWork clothes: Light long sleeve shirt\, Long Pants (no shorts)\, Boots\, Gloves\, Eye Protection & GlovesJacket (be prepared)Hard hat or bike helmet (mandatory)WaterSnacks LunchFace Covering as recommended by the CDC (in case we can’t maintain social proper social distancing)\n\n\n\nNWTA will have tools will available\, but please bring your favorite tread tool if you have one (rakes\, McLeod\, rouge hoe\, loppers) \n\n\n\nAfter the work party on Saturday\, NWTA will provide dinner for all volunteers. Adult Beverages are generously provided by Hopworks. \n\n\n\nPlease be prepared and bring enough food and water for yourself and your group for the remainder of the weekend. \n\n\n\nWaiver – Once registered\, please sign the waiver HERE. \n\n\n\nCampout details: \n\n\n\nOur basecamp for the weekend will be at Marble Mountain Sno Park. This is a paved parking lot with areas close by ideal for dispersed camping. There is also ample space for RVs & Campers however there is no electricity or water on site. Be prepared & bring everything that you need.  \n\n\n\nBathroom – 2 vault toilets (bring toilet paper!). \n\n\n\nPET (DOG) OWNERS: If you bring your pet\, know that you cannot leave them unattended at the base camp. DESCRIPTION:Trail Sisters\, join us for a guided bikepacking weekend August 26-28th in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. \n\n\n\n\nregister\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nCome bikepacking with the Trail Sisters! Led by three women who completed the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route (GDMBR) in summer ’21. \n\n\n\nBikepacking is a great mix of backpacking and bike touring! See more about it at bikepackingroots.org and bikepacking.com. \n\n\n\nThis weekend trip is perfect for NWTA members who identify as female and non-binary\, who want to try bikepacking and make new bikepacking friends.  \n\n\n\nParticipation will be capped at 12. Please be in good riding shape (check the route descriptions)\, have a functioning bike suited for the non-technical terrain (mountain or gravel bike or similar)\, and be able to carry your own camping gear. \n\n\n\nDates: Aug 26-28 (Meet at Goose Lake campground Friday night\, return to Goose Lake by Sunday mid-afternoon) \n\n\n\nRoute: Fire and Ice Cave Loop \n\n\n\nQuestions? DESCRIPTION:Come hone those freeride skills and get some airtime with River City Bicycles and the NWTA at Gateway Green on August 28th! \n\n\n\n\nregister\n\n\n\n\nCome hone those freeride skills and get some airtime with River City Bicycles and the NWTA at Gateway Green on August 28th! This will not be a skills clinic\, but rather a low-key and playful group session to explore all that Gateway Green has to offer. \n\n\n\nThe ride is open to all genders\, and will be led by women from River City Bicycles.  \n\n\n\nAll beginner and intermediate level riders are welcome. Please sign this waiver in order to participate.  \n\n\n\nA flat-bar bike with front suspension is preferable (i.e. a hardtail or full-suspension MTB\, or a dirt jumper). An exception to this would be a BMX bike\, which would be welcomed.  \n\n\n\nMeet by the pump track at the center of the park by 5:00pm\, or if you’re running late just look for ride leaders in River City Bicycles t-shirts in the park.  \n\n\n\nQuestions can be directed to Isabella at isabellat@rivercitybicycles.com. \n\n\n\nEvents like these are made possible through a close partnership with River City Bicycles and the Northwest Trail Alliance.
