DESCRIPTION:Join NWTA & Growlers Gulch Racing for a work party on National Trails Day (June 3rd) at Coldwater Lake at the Mt. St. Helens National Monument. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\nWorkparty Date: Saturday June 3rd\, 2023 / 9am-3pm \n\n\n\nCampout Dates: Friday\, June 2nd – Sunday\, June 4th. \n\n\n\nJoin NWTA & Growlers Gulch Racing for a work party on National Trails Day (June 3rd) at Coldwater Lake at the Mt. St. Helens National Monument. \n\n\n\nDue to our partnership with the US Forest Service & The Mt. St. Helens Institue\, we are allowed to camp overnight (primitive) from June 2nd – June 4th at The Coldwater Lake Learning Center this is a change from years past due to the recent landslide on HWY 504.  \n\n\n\nPlease note that the space for campers is limited. There are also no water or dump facilities at the campsite. Portable restrooms will be available for campers to use onsite \n\n\n\nOnce registered you will receive final meeting location details for the work party from Jim Lemonds. \n\n\n\nInformation about the Science & Learning Center at Coldwater Lake: https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/giffordpinchot/recarea/?recid=40401 \n\n\n\nInformation about Coldwater Lake: https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/giffordpinchot/recarea/?recid=40398 \n\n\n\nAll ages and skill levels are welcome. \n\n\n\nWhat to bring for the work party: \n\n\n\n* Work clothes: Light long sleeve shirt\, Long Pants (no shorts)\, Boots\, Gloves\, Eye Protection & Gloves \n\n\n\n* Jacket (be prepared) \n\n\n\n* Hard hat or bike helmet (mandatory) \n\n\n\n* Water \n\n\n\n* Snacks  \n\n\n\n* Lunch \n\n\n\nPlease bring your favorite tread tool if you have one (rakes\, McLeod\, rouge hoe\, loppers) \n\n\n\nWaiver – Once registered\, please sign the waiver HERE. \n\n\n\nFood will not be provided for Friday night campers \n\n\n\nAfter the work party\, NWTA will host a BBQ for all the volunteers. \n\n\n\nPET (DOG) OWNERS: If you bring your pet\, know that you cannot leave them unattended at the campsite. Trail work will last approximately 4 hours\, wrapping up at 2:00. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\nWhat To Bring: \n\n\n\nYour bike (optional) \n\n\n\nWork clothes: Light long sleeve shirt\, Long Pants (no shorts)\, Boots\, Gloves\, Eye Protection & Gloves \n\n\n\nJacket (be prepared) \n\n\n\nHard hat or bike helmet (mandatory) \n\n\n\nWater \n\n\n\nSnacks \n\n\n\nLunch \n\n\n\nFavorite trail tool\, McLeod or Rouge Hoe (We have tools\, but please feel free to bring your own if you are more comfortable with your own). \n\n\n\nOptional: Folding Handsaw \n\n\n\nSafety meeting promptly starts at 9 am. Please arrive 15-20 early to ensure that you are adequately checked in. Either way\, we need bodies behind trimmers taking care of all the growth that has happened since spring. \n\n\n\nIf your favorite trails are in clearcuts\, they need your help. \n\n\n\nTRAILS THAT NEED LOVE \n\n\n\nHIGHLINE / WINDUP / ANDYLAND / RP UNITED / PIPELINE / GREAT ESCAPE / SERAL STAGE / MACHETE \n\n\n\nSCHEDULE \n\n\n\n8:00 AM — MEET \n\n\n\n8:30 – 1:00 — BRUSH TRAILS \n\n\n\n1:00+ — EAT & RIDE FRESH TRAILS \n\n\n\nWHAT TO BRING \n\n\n\nPPE — String trimmers are no joke\, eye protection\, gloves\, and sturdy boots are a must. Full face shields are even better. \n\n\n\nWATER & SNACKS — It might be hot\, gotta stay hydrated and well fed \n\n\n\nSUNSCREEN — It will likely be sunny\, and you may be in a clear cut \n\n\n\nTOOLS — If you have a string trimmer you want to use\, bring it. SUMMARY:Cascade Locks Trail System Spring Campout and Trail Work Party - 6/23-25
DESCRIPTION:This event merges trail work\, group rides\, and camping\, making for a memorable MTB social event. —Building community as we build trail \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\nObjective: To build a new trail in the Columbia Gorge near Cascade Locks. When completed it will be a 15-mile trail that winds its way through an amazing forest on Forest Service land.  \n\n\n\nMeeting Location: Wyeth Campground next to the Wyeth Trailhead at 750 Herman Creek Rd. Cascade Locks\, OR 97014. \n\n\n\nAll ages and skill levels are welcome. \n\n\n\nAll MINOR Participants: Must complete the additional form & email the completed form to nathaniel.brodie@usda.gov in at least 7 days in advance of the work party: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1QQ1SjWhRSHDS82_gBpR2CgqRWE0K2GUm/view?usp=sharing \n\n\n\nBikes are not necessary for the work party\, but you are welcome to bring them if you want to ride the trails afterward. These sites can accommodate up to 18 vehicles (must pre-register with the NWTA ‘campout’ option). If you are interested in camping and would like to rent your own site\, you can make your reservation at https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/122940 \n\n\n\nFood will not be provided for Friday night campers (BYOB & BYOF) \n\n\n\nOn Saturday\, NWTA and our generous sponsors will provide a BBQ social for our hard-working volunteers. \n\n\n\nPET OWNERS: NWTA will have a group site within the public campground.
