Meet at the Ellis St entrance. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\nJoin NWTA & Portland Parks as we head to Powell Butte to touch up on some trail maintenance to get everything ready for the summer. \n\n\n\nWhere to Meet \n\n\n\nEllis Street Trailhead: 5608 SE 145th Avenue\, Portland\, OR 97236 \n\n\n\nScope of Work \n\n\n\nJoin Portland Parks & Recreation staff and community volunteers in completing important trail work projects on Powell Butte. \n\n\n\nNo experience necessary! Youth participants must be at least age 14\, and all volunteers aged 14-17 must have a parent or guardian sign our youth waiver forms. \n\n\n\nWear sturdy close-toed shoes\, long pants\, and long-sleeved shirts. Bring rain gear and/or sun gear\, a hat\, a filled water bottle\, and snacks. Bring gloves if you have a pair and prefer to use your own. There are also no water or dump facilities at the campsite. When completed it will be a 15-mile trail that winds its way through an amazing forest on Forest Service land.  \n\n\n\nMeeting Location: Wyeth Campground next to the Wyeth Trailhead at 750 Herman Creek Rd. Cascade Locks\, OR 97014. \n\n\n\nAll ages and skill levels are welcome. \n\n\n\nAll MINOR Participants: Must complete the additional form & email the completed form to nathaniel.brodie@usda.gov in at least 7 days in advance of the work party: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1QQ1SjWhRSHDS82_gBpR2CgqRWE0K2GUm/view?usp=sharing \n\n\n\nBikes are not necessary for the work party\, but you are welcome to bring them if you want to ride the trails afterward. Our weekend party around a work party is back! \n\n\n\nWorkparty Date: Saturday\, August 19th\, 2022 / 9 am-3 pm \n\n\n\nCampout Dates: Friday\, August 18th – Sunday\, August 20th. Informal social rides will be happening all weekend!  \n\n\n\nMeet at Marble Mountain Sno Park (NF-83\, Cougar WA 98616) \n\n\n\nWe will be working in areas you will have to access via riding your bike. When registering\, please be honest with your riding skill and stamina in order for us to get you into the right workgroup.  \n\n\n\nWhat to bring for the work party: \n\n\n\n* Work clothes: Light long sleeve shirt\, Long Pants (no shorts)\, Boots\, Gloves\, Eye Protection & Gloves \n\n\n\n* Jacket (be prepared) \n\n\n\n* Hard hat or bike helmet (mandatory) \n\n\n\n* Water \n\n\n\n* Snacks  \n\n\n\n* Lunch \n\n\n\nNWTA will have tools will available\, but please bring your favorite tread tool if you have one (rakes\, McLeod\, rouge hoe\, loppers) \n\n\n\nAfter the work party on Saturday\, dinner will be provided for all volunteers (please pre-register). Adult Beverages are generously provided by Hopworks. \n\n\n\nPlease be prepared and bring enough food and water for yourself and your group for the remainder of the weekend. \n\n\n\nWaiver – Once registered\, please sign the waiver HERE. \n\n\n\nCampout details: \n\n\n\nOur base camp for the weekend will be at Marble Mountain Sno Park. This is a paved parking lot with areas close by ideal for dispersed camping. There is also ample space for RVs & Campers; however\, no electricity or water on site. Be prepared & bring everything that you need.  \n\n\n\nBathroom – 2 vault toilets (bring toilet paper!). \n\n\n\nPET (DOG) OWNERS: If you bring your pet\, know that you cannot leave them unattended at the base camp. DESCRIPTION:The Trail Sustainability Institute presents: Trail School: Intro to Rock Work in collaboration with the US Forest Service in Cascade Locks. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\nThe Trail Sustainability Institute\, in collaboration with the Forest Service invite you to a two-day field course on rock work for trails on the developing Cascade Locks Trail system. Course objectives will include an understanding of ideal rock size & shapes for rock structures; safe and sustainable quarrying and transport of rock\, including high-line systems; construction of effective rock walls from one to three tiers; installing rip rap features and other minor trail armoring. This course will focus on safety\, dry-laid walling techniques\, and hands-on learning. The lead instructor will be Nathaniel Brodie\, Trails Manager for the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area\, USFS. \n\n\n\nCamping at the Wyeth Campground is available\, if you would like to embrace the entire weekend experience. There are no water or bathroom amenities\, available this time of year. Youth participants must be at least age 14\, and all volunteers aged 14-17 must have a parent or guardian sign our youth waiver forms. \n\n\n\nWear sturdy\, close-toed shoes\, long pants\, and long-sleeved shirts. Bring rain gear and/or sun gear\, a hat\, a filled water bottle\, and snacks. Bring gloves if you have a pair and prefer to use your own. Instruction\, tools\, and gloves are otherwise provided. \n\n\n\nYou will walk up to 5 miles from the meeting location and restrooms\, so please be ready to hike. SUMMARY:DIG DAY — Stub Stewart – 12/2
DESCRIPTION:Trail work in the MTB area. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\nCome join us for a fun-filled day of digging and exploring at Stub Stewart State Park! This in-person event is perfect for nature enthusiasts\, families\, and anyone who loves the smell of freshly dug dirt.  \n\n\n\nWhether you’re a seasoned digger or a first-timer\, our experienced leads will be there to assist you throughout the day.  \n\n\n\n10am – 2pm  \n\n\n\nMeet at the far end of the Hill Top Parking lot. If you don’t have a day pass\, you will need to purchase one for $5 at the kiosk near the restrooms. \n\n\n\nTrail work will last approximately 4 hours\, wrapping up at 2:00. We will have food and beer afterwards. \n\n\n\nWhat To Bring: \n\n\n\nWork clothes: Light long sleeve shirt\, Long Pants (no shorts)\, Boots\, Gloves\, Eye Protection & Gloves \n\n\n\nJacket (be prepared) \n\n\n\nHard hat or bike helmet (mandatory) \n\n\n\nWater \n\n\n\nSnacks \n\n\n\nSafety meeting promptly starts at 10 am. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to ensure that you are adequately checked in. We work in all weather\, so come prepared for the elements\, whatever they may be (and change of clothes in the car for when we finish). \n\n\n\nWe will carpool back into the MTB area and hike a short distance from there. \n\n\n\nOnce registered\, please sign the waiver HERE \n\n\n\nEmail stubstewart@nw-trail.org with any questions \n\n\n\nFix draining issues on Lower Shoofly.
