All volunteers under 18 must have a parent or guardian present and sign our waiver forms. \n\n\n\nWear sturdy\, close-toed shoes\, long pants\, and long-sleeved shirts. Bring rain gear and/or sun gear\, a hat\, a filled water bottle\, and snacks. Bring gloves if you have a pair and prefer to use your own. Instruction\, tools\, and gloves are otherwise provided. \n\n\n\nYou will walk up to 5 miles from the meeting location and restrooms\, so please be ready to hike. Help build and maintain the amazing trails of the Rocky Point Trail System. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\nCome join us as we continue work on HONKERS!Backup plan (depending on weather and dirt conditions) is to continue work on new descent traill — name TBD. \n\n\n\nMeeting Location Rocky Point Mid Gate / 20955\, 23999 Rocky Point Rd\, Scappoose\, OR 97056 \n\n\n\nRocky Point Road is closed from 30 to the main lot. You will need to take Skyline and drive down Rocky Point Road to the main lot to avoid the closure. \n\n\n\nSummary of work goalsIf the Skeet Chute clear cut isn’t too wet\, we will be working on a new black descent (Honkers) that has already been roughed in. There is some debris to still be cleared\, some minor benching\, some berms to build\, and general tuning of the line. \n\n\n\nIf the clear cut is too wet\, we will work on clearing corridor for another new descent farther in RP. \n\n\n\nSpecific work focus• General improvement of roughed in line / debris clearing as needed \n\n\n\nTools needed• Shovels \n\n\n\n• Hoes \n\n\n\n• Steel Rakes / Sturdy rock rakes • Hand saws \n\n\n\nGear SuggestionsThe clear cut is very steep and slippery from recent snow/rain. Sturdy hiking soles will help with traction. Be prepared for mud and make sure you wear good gloves. Bring a backpack or bag with water\, snacks\, and anything else you may need. Will food be provided?Yes\, Lunchtime! Learn this rare skill from the expert local stewardship team who has decades of collective experience. \n\n\n\nNorthwest Trail Alliance’s Trail Sustainability Institute’s goal is to foster a culture of land stewardship within the mountain bike community. We are starting promptly at 9:30 am. \n\n\n\nWe will meet in the mid-parking lot at Rocky Point and disburse from there. \n\n\n\nWhat To Bring: \n\n\n\n-Work clothes: Light long-sleeve shirt \n\n\n\n-Long Pants (no shorts) \n\n\n\n-Boots \n\n\n\n-Gloves \n\n\n\n-Eye Protection \n\n\n\n-Gloves \n\n\n\n-Jacket (be prepared) \n\n\n\n-Hard hat or bike helmet (mandatory) \n\n\n\n-Water \n\n\n\n-Snacks/Lunch \n\n\n\nTOOLS WILL BE PROVIDED. You are not required to bring any tools\, but if you have your own folding saw\, loppers\, rake\, shovel\, or hoe\, feel free to bring it. \n\n\n\nIn accordance with our agreement with Weyerhaeuser\, the land manager of Rocky Point\, those who enter the property must be a NWTA member in good standing and have signed the Rocky Point Waiver . Join NWTA and become one of 5\,000+ mountain bikers stewarding trails together in NW Oregon and SW Washington. Whether you’re a seasoned trail builder or a newbie\, everyone is welcome to lend a hand and make a difference. We’ll provide the tools and guidance\, so all you need to bring is your enthusiasm and a willingness to work as a team. Debris has been cleared so we will focus on some minor benching\, berms to build\, and general tuning of the line.  \n\n\n\nIf the clear cut is too wet\, we will work on clearing corridor for another new descent in the trees. \n\n\n\nSpecific work focusGeneral improvement of roughed in line. \n\n\n\nTools needed \n\n\n\n\nShovels\n\n\n\nHoes\n\n\n\nSteel Rakes / Sturdy rock rakes \n\n\n\n\nGear SuggestionsSturdy hiking soles will help with traction as the clear cut can be very slick in the wet. Be prepared for mud and make sure you wear good gloves. Bring a backpack or bag with water\, snacks\, and anything else you may need. \n\n\n\nWill food be provided?Yes\, Lunchtime! (TBD on specifics)  \n\n\n\nWill we be riding after?Yes\, if weather permits \n\n\n\nNoteWe will plan on meeting at the main RP lot for our pre-work briefing\, then hike a few minutes to the trail or drive in depending on the work area. \n\n\n\nOnce registered please sign the waiver here.
