DESCRIPTION:October 27th Hagg Lake Brush-Out  \nCome out and help brush out Henry Hagg Lake so that it’s cleared for winter riding. \n  \nWork Party Logistics: \nWho: Newbies and non-members are welcome\, tools will be provided. \nWhen: 9:00am – 12:30pm Saturday\, October 27th \nWhere: We will meet at the Dam Overlook\, the 2nd left when entering the Park. (The first left goes across the dam.) https://goo.gl/maps/cdEirVmd2kN2 \nWhat to expect:  \nWe will meet at the parking lot\, sign waivers\, and hand out tools at 9AM and be trimming by 9:30. You should expect to work rain or shine for approximately 3-4 hours. Weather can be variable this time of year so check the forecast and dress accordingly. \nThere will be some beer/soda/snacks when we’re done. \n  \nWhat to bring: Bring gloves\, water\, a snack\, and be ready to walk and brush for a couple of hours. Loppers and/or brush cutting tools if you have them. We will supply tools from the NWTA stash. \n  \nWhat to wear: \n\n Boots\n Sturdy work gloves (There is a fair bit of blackberry along this trail so more than one pair is a good idea)\n A light\, long sleeved shirt\n Rain gear as appropriate for the weather\n Eye protection is recommended (eye glasses\, safety glasses\, etc.)\n\n  \nRegistration:  \nVolunteers should sign up or send questions to Bruce Gudmundsson via email to HaggLake@nw-trail.org

DESCRIPTION:In partnership with Trailkeepers of Oregon\, NWTA is co-hosting a trail work party at LL Stub Stewart State Park to realign the Williams Creek Horseshoe trail – transforming it from an old\, overgrown logging road into an undulating\, creekside multi-use trail for hikers\, equestrians\, and mountain bikers. \nThe realignment follows the contours of Williams Creek south of the Banks Vernonia State Trail and offers beautiful creek views.  The Williams Creek Horseshoe realignment project will provide a cross-country trail riding alternative to the paved BVST between the Shoofly MTB trailhead and the Buxton BVST trailhead. \nWork Party Logistics: \n8:30am – 3:30pm Friday\, October 19 \nThis will be a follow up to a first pass of clearing brush and duff material from the flagged corridor planned for the new trail realignment 4\,800 feet in length. This trail has been and NWTA favorite for years\, and we helped to improve the ride experience in 2016 by spearheading reroute from a mid-trail dirt road descent\, onto four miles of bike-optimized singletrack. \nThis May will be holding a full day ride where we will also brush out the trail and clear any downed trees from the winter. We will also be working to bring an abandoned road back into service for bikes in order to ease congestion at the multi-usergroup trailhead. Once back at the cars\, the grill will get fired up and you’ll enjoy chips\, brats and beers! \nThe full ride will be ~20 miles as we will be climbing the scenic Wind River Road before turning onto the dirt at Oldman Pass SnoPark. Due to the stewardship aspect of the day\, this will be a social paced ride with regroups at every intersection as necessary. If you’ve never experienced the Falls Creek Trail\, this is a great opportunity to do so! \nMeet at the pull out ~3 miles past the the turn-off for the the trailhead (FS Road 152) at 10am (look for the NWTA sign).

Join Disciples of Dirt\, Salem Area Trail Alliance\, and Team Dirt as we return to work and get trails ready for riding this summer. \nThis is the last of our three joint build days this season between our organizations. Come on out and show your support for more trails in the Willamette Valley. There is a lot of work to be done\, from clearing logs and debris to clearing corridor on Misery Whip! \nWork begins at 10am and ends at 2pm. Meet at the parking lot on Fall Creek Access Rd. No experience necessary. Bring food and water; wear long pants\, sturdy shoes and gloves. Our groups will provide hard hats and tools\, but feel free to bring your own. \nWe may do shuttled rides afterwards\, if conditions\, weather\, time and drivers permit.

The Alsea Falls system is great for riders of all skill levels\, but we recommend that you be at least an intermediate beginner for this ride to ensure you have the best time possible. If we have enough folks\, we’ll break up the group so the advanced shredders can let loose and the rest of us can enjoy a more leisurely pace. \nCome early and help out the folks from Disciples of Dirt\, Team Dirt and the Salem Area Trail Alliance as they dial in the amazingly flowy trails at Alsea Falls. Digging starts at 10 (and may earn you a shuttle ride from the hosts).
