DESCRIPTION:register here\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nJoin Trail Sisters for a ride through Forest Park the morning after Thanksgiving! \n\n\n\nThis ride is open to women; cis\, trans\, nonbinary. \n\n\n\nMeet: \n\n\n\nAt Fat Tire Farm at 10 a.m. and roll out by 10:30 a.m. (If you drive\, please don’t park in the FTF lot.) \n\n\n\nBring: \n\n\n\nA gravel/cyclocross bike with knobby 35c/40c tires for maximum fun\, but hardtail mountain bikes are also great for this terrain. Full suspension mountain bikes might be a bit heavy\, but bring what ya got! \n\n\n\nAlso\, bring the standard stuff to keep you safe and comfy: helmet\, gloves\, layers\, fenders\, water\, snacks\, clear-lens glasses. \n\n\n\nRide: \n\n\n\nAbout 1\,400 ft of climbing over about 16 miles. This is a no-drop ride but there may be groups that split up a little depending on who’s feeling peppy and who’s feeling chill 🙂 We will always regroup at natural stopping points. \n\n\n\nRoute on Ride With GPS: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/49006426 \n\n\n\nSocialize: \n\n\n\nOptional (but highly encouraged) post-ride hang sesh at St Honore. DESCRIPTION:Join NWTA’s Trail Sister’s & Team Metropolis for a guided ride on the spectacular Falls Creek trail. \n\n\n\n\nregister\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nJoin the femmes of Team Metropolis for a day in the Gifford Pinchot to experience this gem of a Washington trail. We will shuttle to Oldman Pass\, connecting to McLellen Meadows and then to Falls Creek Trail\, dividing into two groups based on ability and fitness. Both groups will have the opportunity to session technical parts of the climbs and descents. There are many great snacking spots with a view. We might even stop to enjoy some of the lava tubes off the trail. Bring your sense of adventure and join us for a day on the trail!  \n\n\n\nThis Intermediate to Advanced skill level ride is for Trail Sisters- (cis & trans) and non-binary. It is 23 miles and 1500 feet of technical and punchy climbing; descending is technical with roots and rocks and some exposure; expect to be on the trail for 5 hours. \n\n\n\nPlease assess your riding skills honestly. This ride requires fitness and technical skills. The trails we will ride are rated blue on Trailforks. Led by three women who completed the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route (GDMBR) in summer ’21. \n\n\n\nBikepacking is a great mix of backpacking and bike touring! See more about it at bikepackingroots.org and bikepacking.com. \n\n\n\nThis weekend trip is perfect for NWTA members who identify as female and non-binary\, who want to try bikepacking and make new bikepacking friends.  \n\n\n\nParticipation will be capped at 12. Cost: $10 donation to NWTA\, scholarships available (email elaine.b@elainebbikes.com). \n\n\n\nKNOW YOUR CAPABILITIES \n\n\n\nRider Experience: Intermediate/Advanced with at least 2-4 years of riding on dirt trails  \n\n\n\nYou are already very comfortable riding a bike on “Blue” and may be riding parts of more technical “Black” trails\, and over most of whatever features come along\, 8-12” high\, at least downhill. You can stand and coast confidently on level pedals for entire sections of trail\, and they can shift gears and corner comfortably. You may be starting to jump and drop some features and want to learn what to do with more technical terrain and build confidence on tricky corners and berms\, and steep sections You can easily ride 2-4 miles or more on a trail or bike path. \n\n\n\nDuring this class: Riders will continue to improve their balance over varying and more technical terrain\, brake and corner even quicker\, and shift before it’s too late. They’ll learn to climb\, descend and ride both faster and at incredibly slow speeds with more confidence. They’ll have more fun riding technical terrain including steep sections\, tricky switchbacks\, technical climbs\, and more.  \n\n\n\nBike: A mountain bike\, preferably full suspension with platform pedals\, two-hand brakes front and back\, a seat that can move up and down\, and is in good working condition. Join NWTA Certified Instructors Allie and Nancy for an evening of skill-building\, riding\, and FUN. This NW Trail Sister’s event is open to all who identify as female and non-binary. \n\n\n\nKNOW YOUR CAPABILITIES \n\n\n\nAt an intermediate level\, you are able to confidently shift gears\, brake safely\, and navigate your bike over small rocks\, roots\, and uneven terrain. Riding for 2 hours (with breaks) is doable for you.  \n\n\n\nFor this clinic\, we will be riding uphill with roughly 700 feet of elevation gain on a paved road for about 1.5 miles and will descend an uneven trail that will require you to navigate over small rocks and roots. They can shift gears and corner\, but it might not go as smoothly as it could — or at the right time. They are interested in rolling over taller features and possibly riding pump tracks (or rolling terrain) without pedaling the whole time. They can ride 2 miles or more on a trail or bike path. \n\n\n\nDuring this class: these riders will continue to improve their balance overall and learn to stand and coast on the pedals for short. They’ll learn to ride over varying terrain\, including trails and rolling terrain\, brake and corner with more confidence\, and shift more smoothly. Join us for Trail School out on our coastal trails at Klootchy Creek on January 22nd. The event is for the Women/Trans/Femme community to build confidence in\, and understanding of\, trail maintenance in an encouraging environment.  \n\n\n\nTrail School covers the fundamental skills needed to maintain our trails. Trail Sisters will be learning safety techniques and tool identification/uses\, as well as hands-on training of corridor clearing\, drainage\, tread\, and benchwork. If you are interested in learning the “how” and “why” of trail maintenance\, this is the place for you!  \n\n\n\nCOVID Protocols \n\n\n\nDue to COVID-19\, masks are mandatory when you cannot maintain safe social distancing. We have also had to limit the number of participants. DESCRIPTION:Join us on Tuesday 8/31 at the Sandy Ridge trail system for a women’s beginner-friendly mountain bike ride. \n\n\n\n*note: beginner does not mean novice. If you have basic bike handling skills\, are comfortable riding on single track that will present rocks\, roots and off-camber surfaces\, this ride is for you.  \n\n\n\nThe ride will promptly begin at 5:30pm and conclude by 7:30pm. This a no drop beginner ride and we will regroup often to ensure everyone is safe and having fun. \n\n\n\nBe ready to roll with your bike and gear at 5:30pm. If you’re uncertain about your bike show up at 5:00 pm and one of our volunteers can make minor adjustments for fit and function \n\n\n\nThe Sandy Ridge Trail System is located at 62700 E Barlow Trail Rd\, Brightwood\, OR 97011. \n\n\n\nWhat to bring: \n\n\n\nMask / Face Covering \n\n\n\nMountain Bike \n\n\n\nHelmet \n\n\n\nLayers – this is Oregon\, ride will happen rain or shine! \n\n\n\nMinimum 1 – 2 liters of water in bottles or better yet a Hydration Pack. \n\n\n\nSnacks – easy to eat & for you to digest. \n\n\n\nRegarding COVID 19: We are concerned with rising positive cases in our community. DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday\, July 31st at the Sandy Ridge trail system for a beginner-friendly mountain bike ride with the WTF riders of Metropolis Cycle Repair. This ride is for the Women\, Trans\, Femme (WTF) community who want to build their confidence when riding at trail systems like Sandy Ridge. Our focus for this event will be building skills to help you become a more confident rider. Beginner & Advanced Beginner WTF Mountain Bike Riders this event is for you! \n\n\n\nThe ride will promptly begin at 10 am and conclude by 2 pm. Expect to ride at least 6 miles and climb around 1000 feet. After the ride\, the groups will gather back at the parking lot for a hosted BBQ (meat & veggie options available) by Metropolis Cycle Repair.
