DESCRIPTION:The Trail Sustainability Institute will be hosting Trail School at Klootchy Creek specifically for Trail Sisters (women/trans/femme). \n\n\n\nREGISTER HERE \n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nTrail Sisters! Join us for Trail School out on our coastal trails at Klootchy Creek on January 22nd. The event is for the Women/Trans/Femme community to build confidence in\, and understanding of\, trail maintenance in an encouraging environment.  \n\n\n\nTrail School covers the fundamental skills needed to maintain our trails. Trail Sisters will be learning safety techniques and tool identification/uses\, as well as hands-on training of corridor clearing\, drainage\, tread\, and benchwork. If you are interested in learning the “how” and “why” of trail maintenance\, this is the place for you!  \n\n\n\nCOVID Protocols \n\n\n\nDue to COVID-19\, masks are mandatory when you cannot maintain safe social distancing. We have also had to limit the number of participants. Clean/undamaged only\, please. \n\n\n\nIf you don’t have any extra\, take some stuff home with you! The idea is to get our extra gear out of closets and bags and into the community (vs. the landfill!). \n\n\n\nThis is a FREE “swap”-style event … not a sale! Browse the tables and take what you can use. Please bring your own reusable shopping bag.  \n\n\n\nRides will leave from the parking lot at 10:30 and 11:30. This is an event to create a space for people of color who do not normally feel safe in the outdoors to meet\, gather & ride mountain bikes together. If you do not identify as BIPOC & are an ally we ask that you support our efforts by becoming a member of Northwest Trail Alliance at nw-trail.org/join.   \n\n\n\nEvent Details: \n\n\n\nSunday 9/5 from 10 am – 2 pmGateway Green\, Portland\, OR – meet at “The Hub” to check in & get your raffle ticket!This event adheres to the lastest recommendations from THE CDC regarding COVID-19.  Although this event is outdoors masks/face-coverings are required when distancing of 6′ is not possible.Families Welcome.Helmets Required.Any bike that can handle off-road terrain is welcome.This park is car-free! DESCRIPTION:Join us on Tuesday 8/31 at the Sandy Ridge trail system for a women’s beginner-friendly mountain bike ride. \n\n\n\n*note: beginner does not mean novice. If you have basic bike handling skills\, are comfortable riding on single track that will present rocks\, roots and off-camber surfaces\, this ride is for you.  \n\n\n\nThe ride will promptly begin at 5:30pm and conclude by 7:30pm. This a no drop beginner ride and we will regroup often to ensure everyone is safe and having fun. \n\n\n\nBe ready to roll with your bike and gear at 5:30pm. If you’re uncertain about your bike show up at 5:00 pm and one of our volunteers can make minor adjustments for fit and function \n\n\n\nThe Sandy Ridge Trail System is located at 62700 E Barlow Trail Rd\, Brightwood\, OR 97011. \n\n\n\nWhat to bring: \n\n\n\nMask / Face Covering \n\n\n\nMountain Bike \n\n\n\nHelmet \n\n\n\nLayers – this is Oregon\, ride will happen rain or shine! \n\n\n\nMinimum 1 – 2 liters of water in bottles or better yet a Hydration Pack. \n\n\n\nSnacks – easy to eat & for you to digest. \n\n\n\nRegarding COVID 19: We are concerned with rising positive cases in our community.
